Stamping With Baby Wipes- Part 3: In Color Collection 2016-2018

Stamping With Baby Wipes- Part 3

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s showcase on stamping with baby wipes and the fun, coordinated cards you can create. If you missed the technique tutorial video from Monday, watch Part 1 HERE. If you missed the tutorial video and card recipes from Wednesday, see Part 2 HERE. Today’s cards feature the soon-to-retire In Color Collection 2016-2018!

Stamping with baby wipes Hold on to hope birthday card

Hold On To Hope Birthday Card in Peekaboo Peach from the In Color Collection 2016-18

It’s always fun to see how different a card can look just by changing up the colors. For these cards, I used Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum and Flirty Flamingo inks, creating the card layers the same way as in Monday’s video.

Color Collections Explained

If you’re not familiar with Stampin’ Up!’s colors, let me share how they work. Stampin’ Up! features 4 major color collections of ten colors each:

  • Brights (bright versions of all colors)
  • Regals ( jewel tones…)
  • Subtles (pastels…)
  • Neutrals (browns and blacks)

In addition to these, they introduce 5 new colors each year called the “In-Colors“. These are on-trend colors to supplement the major collections. They’re designed to play well with each other, as well as with other colors in the major collections and they retire after only two years on the job! (That’s my kind of work schedule!)

In Color Collection 2016-2018

This means the In Color Collection 2016-2018 is nearing the end of it’s work life. Soon to retire and relax on the beach somewhere, EVERYTHING in these colors will retire on May 31, 2018.  Ink pads, ink refills, markers, cardstock, ribbon, baker’s twine and embellishments…. everything!

If you adore any of these sweet colors, I encourage you to stock up NOW. We’ll be seeing stock start to disappear and once they’re retired, they are  GONE. No longer available. History. Pleeeeeeeease, don’t wait and miss out!

Notice that variegated coloring in the photos –  that’s what you get with this technique! It’s a fun and easy way to stamp, as well as create unique coordinating backgrounds.

Sweet Hello Card using Stampin’ Blends Markers and Flying Home

Sweet Hello Card

Stampin' Blends Markers with Flying Home

Who else loves to color? I think it’s THE best therapy around… sooo relaxing and FUN! Now, you can be a kid at heart playing with Stampin’ Blends Markers, the ultimate grown-up coloring tool! Their alcohol-based solution allows for lovely blending of colors to achieve seamless shading and depth. Like on this card, featuring the Flying Home stamp set (found in the 2018 [Spring] Occasions catalog).

Stampin’ Blends Markers

Whether you start with a few fave colors, or indulge in the whole color collection, I highly recommend them to anyone who loves coloring and wants to up their artistic “game”. Combine different shades to produce entirely new colors! Try mixing various colors for amazing shading! They’re easy to work with and the possibilities are endless.

Available in 12 exclusive Stampin’ Up! colors that you know and love, each with a light and dark marker. In addition, there’s Ivory (for light skin tones), Bronze (dark skin tones) and the super-fun Color Lifter!

Stampin' Blends Markers

My collection stored in a Paper Pumpkin box- a perfect fit!

Best yet, they’re designed just for stampers with a brush tip on one end and a fine-tip on the other. Great for large coloring areas AND small details. And true to Stampin’ Up! style- the inks coordinate with all their other products so you can easily create cards that look AMAZING!

Stampin' Blends Markers

Stampin’ Up! recommends using them with Memento Ink, although I’ve had good results using my Archival Basic Black Ink Pad. Whichever you choose, make sure the ink is dry before coloring. This is what I’ve found works best to avoid smearing your stamped image.

Stampin' Blends Markers

The little hedgehog on this card (from the adorable Hedgehugs stamp set) was colored using the Stampin’ Blends Markers and then given some shimmer with a brush of Wink of Stella. (Aren’t hedgehogs suppose to shimmer? When they’re this cute- of, course!)

Exclusive Package

Now’s the perfect time to take advantage of my exclusive Stampin’ Blends Package and earn 3 FREE Sale-A-Bration Rewards + $15 Bonus Reward for any product!. PLUS, use my current Rewards Code to add a free handmade gift from me! Offer good through March 31, 2018.

If you’d like to see the Stampin’ Blends in action, check out this video from Stampin’ Up!

I hope you’ll give these Stampin’ Blends Markers are try for yourself… but, only if you want hours of creative fun and relaxation! 🙂

True Gentleman Masculine Retirement Card

True Gentleman Masculine Retirement Card

Retirement is such an exciting time! Moving from one season of life into another is definitely worth celebrating. So when I needed a masculine retirement card for a friend, I reached for the new True Gentleman Designer Series Paper from the Occasions 2018 catalog
True Gentleman Masculine Retirement Card

True Gentleman Designer Series Paper

Know why I love using designer paper? It does the work for you! The patterns and colors all coordinate, so mixing and matching is easy-peasy. It made this card “masculine” without any effort. SCORE!

Tailored Tag Punch

True Gentleman Tailored Tag Masculine Retirement Card

The versatile Tailored Tag Punch does double duty here! I really like the angular shape and it’s a perfect fit for the sentiment (from the Wild About Flowers stamp set). But here’s the exciting bit: Flip it over, center your piece and use it to create the banner ends! woo-HOO

Save 10% when you bundle it with the Truly Tailored Stamp set!

Tailored Tag Punch #145667

SAVVY TIP: The largest banner is wider than the punch, so here’s a simple way to cut the end. From the reverse side, draw a line at the center point (1-1/2″) about 1/2″ from the bottom, then cut from edge to center in both directions. Easy & quick!

Matching Accessories

Use your scrap pieces from punching the banner ends to decorate the inside greeting panel! It adds a bit of pizzazz, and when coordinated with a matching envelope- you’ve got a sophisticated, masculine retirement card worthy of celebration.

True Gentleman Masculine Retirement Card

What I like about this card is it would work just as well for a birthday or other occasion. Swap the sentiment and you’re good to go. For now, should you want to congratulate a retiree, I hope you’ll enjoy making this masculine retirement card yourself!

Happy Stamping!

Masculine Valentines Card With Rustic Charm

Masculine Valentines Card

Masculine Valentines Card

Need a masculine Valentines card that’s quick and easy to make… but, doesn’t look it?  Pair the sweet sentiment from the Sure Do Love You stamp set with the Wood Textures Designer Paper and you’ve got a card full of rustic charm perfect for the man in your life.

Masculine Valentines Card

Sure Do… Love YOU!

The Sure Do Love You stamp set from the new Occasions catalog was a must-have for me. My hubby and I have a game we play with our grand-kiddos. One of us says to a kiddo: “Sure do…” and they reply with “Love you!” And then I’ll say “NO! I love YOU!”… and round and round we go, giggling all the way!  It’s the little things that make us happy!

Sure Do Love You Clear-Mount Bundle #145966

The coordinating Lots To Love framelits dies are the the real hit of the bundle (IMHO)! The gift card slots are BRILLIANT! The banner die works for all kinds of sentiments- not just the ones in this stamp set.  The box die is awesome and makes the most ADORABLE treat box, perfect for so many things- including the oh, so cute Narrow Note Cards! And hearts and leaf branches are versatile year-round. Best yet… save 10% when the stamps and dies are bundled! woo-HOO

Wood Textures DSP

Wood Textures DSP #144177

We can thank the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (from the Annual Catalog) for giving this masculine Valentines card its rustic charm. So many great “wood” choices and not a splinter in sight! And my favorite way to use it? Stamp directly on it!

It was a favorite at our February Stampin’ Savvy class, also! The hardest part for them was choosing which wood design to use! See Laura’s beautiful finished card  🙂

Masculine Valentines Card

The card recipe and supply list are below. Hope you enjoy making this masculine Valentines card for your own sweetie! Hopin’ mine doesn’t peek before Wednesday…

Happy Stampin’!

  • Cut Wood Textures paper of choice slightly larger than 4.25″ x 5.5″. Adhere to front of card base with adhesive, taking care to include adhesive over the area where you’ll be die-cutting heart. Trim edges, if needed.
  • Stamp leaf-print heart centered on top 2/3 of card front with chocolate chip ink, stamped off (stamp once on a scrap piece of paper, then stamp card WITHOUT re-inking).
  • With the card open in the Big Shot machine, center large heart die in the center of the above stamped image and die-cut. (Save heart for envelope or other project)
  • Stamp the solid heart through the cut-out on to the inside of the card in Sahara Sand ink.

They’re the perfect kids DIY craft:

  • quick & easy to make

  • fosters creativity

 Kids School Valentines Bookmarks

Party Pandas & Magical Day

I recently had a play date with my grand-daughters and their friend (ages 4-10) and they had a blast making these bookmarks for their school Valentines exchange. Kids are just naturally creative and not stuck with the adult “hangup of perfection”! They know how to have FUN and pride in their creations! A refreshing reminder….

Their fave stamps were the Sale-A-Bration set PARTY PANDAS and the Occasions set MAGICAL DAY. They mixed and matched to their hearts content! The table was filled with purple and pink unicorns, green dragons, black pandas, lots of happy mermaids, and a few knights and wizards. A great mix for both boys and girls!

Kids School Valentines Bookmarks

Basic Supplies

You only need a few basic supplies, but feel free to add the options if you want to dress them up!

Valentine Bookmark

A hit with adults, too!

Not Just for Kids

Want to know the funniest part? The adults!… they wanted in on the action! After the kids had enough for their class, the adults asked if they could make some too… pretty, please? They had as much fun (if not more!) than the kiddos! So that just proves you don’t have to be young to love creating, in fact I think it’s part of what keeps us young-at-heart!

  • Bookmark Size: 2-1/8″ (*or 2″) wide by 5-1/2″ long
  • Cut card stock on long (11″) side @ 5.5″ and stack together
  • Cut card stock on short (8-1/2″) side every 2-1/8″ (*if you plan to use either the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch or Banner Triple Punch, cut every 2″ with 1/2″ scrap)

Savvy Tips

  • Pre-cut bookmarks
  • Cut a few extras for mistakes (or you!)
  • Be prepared to help them stamp, but let them lead. I expected the 4-year old to get tired and need help, but, no! She was a stampin’ machine that just wanted to keep going!
  • My kiddos made 20-30 each in a couple hours, signed and ready to give!

What’s better than a handmade creation that was fun to make AND give?! I hope you enjoy making this kids school valentine exchange craft with your kids as much as I did with mine!

Happy Stampin’!

These new items will be available as rewards on orders placed between February 16th and March 31st. Stock Up

Savvy Tip: Now’s the time to stock up on essentials!  Build your collection of “foundation” items and earn FREE stamp sets, note cards, ribbon, designer paper, embossing folders and thinlits dies! For every $50 you spend on goodies, you earn a Level 1 item. Spend $100 and get two (2) Level 1 items, or one (1) Level 2 item, and on it goes. Best of all, THERE’S NO LIMIT to the rewards!

Here’s my Top 5 Picks:

#1 Ink

 1) Ink Refills protect your investment by keeping your ink pads juicy for years to come, but are also great for a ton of fun techniques! I HIGHLY encourage you to get your ink refills NOW! SHOP them here.

The 2016-2018 In-Color Collection will be retiring soon. It’s also possible Stampin’ Up! may surprise us with new color collections for this 30th Anniversary year. If that happens, some colors will retire and ink refills will sell out IMMEDIATELY! Don’t wait!

#2 Paper

2) Card Stock to match your ink colors. Product coordination is where Stampin’ Up! excels and card stock is the foundation of your projects! There’s several options including purchasing colors individually, in mixed color packs or by color collection. SHOP them here. Remember envelopes, too!

The above warning in #1 applies here, too! Overwhelmed by the choices and want help? I’m happy to offer suggestions based on the ink pads you have. Just leave me a comment!

#3 Tools

3) Tools like the Stampin’ Trimmer, Bone Folder and Paper Snips are what I consider the essentials. You will use them on every card or project you make! Just like tools in the kitchen or any DIY project, they make life so much easier, efficient and give you better results!

#4 Adhesives

4) Adhesives are consumables, so what’s better than getting rewarded for stocking up? SNAIL  (and refills) and Multi-purpose Glue are basics I use every day. Stampin’ Dimensionals (and mini’s) add depth to any project. Mini Glue Dots are a personal fave to attach small items. Tear & Tape or Fast Fuse  (and refill) do a great job with 3D projects or when you need super-strength.

#5 Big Shot

5) Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine is THE work-horse in my studio. Yes, it’s an investment, but I can personally attest to it’s value: 12 years old and still going strong, mine is used almost daily! You get great texture from embossing folders, no-fuss cutting with framelits and endless possibilities with thinlits! They each add pizzazz to any project like nothing else! I HIGHLY recommend this awesome machine so much that I consider it an essential for any serious paper crafter!

Here’s a recent card made using my Big Shot and the Layering Circles and Stitched Shapes Framelits. This item alone earns you two Level 1 rewards or one Level 2 reward! Woo-Hoo!

    Big Shot

Party Pandas Painted With Love Simple Birthday Card

Party Pandas Painted With Love Simple Birthday Card

Party Pandas + Painted With Love

I’m in love with these Party Pandas! They’re not only ADORABLE,  they make creating fun and EASY for this simple birthday card! And the stamp set’s also FREE during Sale-A-Bration!!! Does it get any better???

Coupled with the super popular Painted with Love Specialty Designer Paper (from the new Occasions catalog), you can make this card in minutes! Mr. Party Panda’s ready for fun while the Designer Paper does all the work!  Can I make a confession?  I really struggled to use this side of the double-sided paper! The beautiful gold foil that makes this a specialty paper is hidden! Choosing was sooo tough! Anyone else struggle with this???

      Simple Stampin’

Now I have to say, the stamping couldn’t be any easier and I only used one ink pad! ONE! Archival Basic Black ink provides the intense, deep black that makes this panda POP! Yes, there is a huge difference in quality of inks out there… even (or especially) with black! In fact here’s a bit of trivia for you: I became a Demonstrator for Stampin’ Up! because their ink pads (among other things) are, in my opinion, THE best on the market!

      Color Your Way

The only embellishment found on this card is the color on the balloon, which was done with my Rich Razzleberry combo Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. But, you could just as easily color yours with a blender pen and ink or watercolor pencils; Stampin’ Write Markers would work, too. Add a bit of shimmer with the Wink of Stella pen for a glittery party balloon! Use what you have!

      Envelope Envy

Last, but by no means least, start the party by decorating the envelope; it’s the first thing you see! Washi Tape is one quick, easy-peasy solution… and one of my faves! I ADORE washi tape! SAVVY TIP: Use your bone folder to burnish it down, so it arrives securely in place after a tumble through the mail!

Beautiful Peacock stamps, Tutti-Frutti cards & shimmer ribbon

These Tutti-Frutti Note cards with matching envelopes are absolutely adorable! You get four each of these fun colors: Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist-shown here, and Pool Party. With 16 cards in the pack, they’d make a beautiful gift set or enough to keep your personal stash stocked for a bit. And, yes… they’re really FREE!

I must confess, the Beautiful Peacock stamps didn’t make me swoon at first. Probably because I’m a little jaded about peacocks. Yes, they’re beautiful… but did you know they are amazingly ANNOYING? Our neighbor had a few and wow, could you hear them! They make an obnoxious amount of noise. I’m thinkin’ it was God’s sense of humor since he gave them such beauty. LOL

Fortunately, this stamp set overcame my bias, because it’s got some great versatile pieces- the feathers make great swirls and flourishes!  Super cute sentiments, too! It’s not just for peacock lovers; even I highly recommend it! No peacock in sight on this card! Yep, the stamp set is FREE!

Finally, the Shimmer Ribbon added a bit of sparkle for a quick embellishment. You get 5 yards each of Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay, and Basic Gray; each a different width, for a total of 15 yards. And they can’t be bought… so get ’em FREE while you can!

Stampin’ Up! excels at PRODUCT COORDINATION! The ink matches the card stock that matches the Designer paper that matches the ribbon, etc.! Creating is easy! They do the work, we have the fun!

Not to be neglected, I added a few coordinating Tutti-Frutti Adhesive-Backed Sequins from the new Occasion catalog. The adhesive makes these EASY-PEASY to apply… yay! With five fun colors, I’ve been using these like crazy lately. LOVE ‘EM! A great addition to your qualifying order to earn the freebies above!

Once a year, Stampin’ Up! rewards it’s customers with  F R E E  exclusive items that cannot be bought… like the  Lots of Lavender stamp set. Paired with the oh, so  cute Narrow Note Cards from the new Spring/Summer OCCASIONS Catalog, you’ve got a quick and easy gift card!

Perfect on a gift, your recipient is sure to feel the love with this handmade cutie. The GORGEOUS Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Paper (a FAVE- highly recommend!) and Duet Banner punch make the sentiment, as well as a 2-1/4″ circle punch for the envelope liner. Now the card and envelope coordinate and look lux… but, it was sooo easy!

The set’s background stamps make quick work coloring the beautiful lavender bundle. In the card to the right (featured last week), ink and blender pen, with a quick brush from the Wink of Stella pen did the coloring. So relaxing! This would also look great water colored… there’s just so many fun things to do! I LOVE options! How ’bout you?

Speaking of color, let’s not forgot to pretty up the inside, too! This little floral stamp fits perfect on the inside, as well as on the envelope flap. Colored with the coordinating Stampin’ Write Markers, it takes advantage of one of the BEST features of Stampin’ Up! – PRODUCT COORDINATION!

Not only do you get a WOW effect, it’s a great value! No waste or trying to search for just the right color match. Stampin’ Up! does the hard work for us and makes creating fun and easy!

Now’s a great time to stock up on essentials like ink and paper and get your stamp sets FREE! Purchase $50 from me and color yourself in the sunny south of France. Sun on your face. Bees abuzz. Fragrant perfume filling the air. The perfect crafty antidote to a cold winter day!

Sunshine & Rainbows Bundle by Stampin’ Up!

      Happy Wednesday!

I thought this would be the perfect product to showcase, given our recent weather here in southern California! I’ve really enjoyed the past couple stormy days, which brought much needed rain to our area and during a brief respite yesterday, a RAINBOW! Thanks to a major power outage, we got to spend the day watching our 3 grand-kiddos, so when it appeared, we dropped everything and just stood at the window watching in awe. When I was a teen, my bedroom had rainbow wallpaper, and, after my mom’s death, a stunning double rainbow brought me comfort and solace. So yes, they hold a special place in my heart!

This new SUNSHINE & RAINBOWS bundle from the Occasions catalog has great sentiments with trendy mixed fonts, versatile images and OUTSTANDING framelits dies- which makes this  a must-have for rainbow fans like me! Plus, add a stamping staple like ink, paper or tools, and you’ve qualified for a free item in the current Sale-A-Bration catalog! woo-hoo  (I’m particularly loving the shimmer ribbon sitting on my desk at the moment… you get THREE rolls in three colors and sizes AND they’re exclusive rewards! Great FREE way to add texture and dimension to your cards!)

Hope you enjoy a little creativity today, and, if a rainbow comes your way, a smile! I’d love to hear from you… especially any fellow rainbow aficionados!

      Happy Stamping!
