Accented Blooms Card With A Fun Peekaboo Sentiment!

Accented Blooms Card with a Peekaboo Hello

I’m so excited about today’s project! The Accented Blooms stamp set was one of the first to make my wish list when I saw the new 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. It’s fresh and modern- and works with simple stamping (like today) or colored with your favorite markers or ink. Plus, it coordinates with the very popular Tailored Tag Punch for quick and easy projects. Yeah for possibilities… including today’s Accented Blooms card with a fun twist!

Today we’re going to use the Tailored Tag Punch to create a peekaboo effect, layering the sentiment under the main panel, instead of on top. A simple change that creates a fun element!accented blooms

The Crumb Cake stamped panel is 3-3/4″ x 5″. In order to know where to stamp, insert the cardstock in the punch centered left to right, until it hits the bottom. This notes the “throat” of the punch, so you don’t stamp too high. Lightly trace with a pencil (do NOT punch).

Now that you’ve established your stamp position, it’s time to stamp! I recommend the Stamparatus for this, especially with large stamps and fine lines. Notice the black “spacer” (below) I’ve used to to step it back from the edge. This allows your card to stay in a corner, but, not hit the hinges.

To get a good, solid-coverage of Versamark, I inked and stamped twice. Remember to use your Embosssing Buddy first! Cover with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and use your Heat Tool to melt.

Next, pick your sentiment and stamp with the Granny Apple Green Classic Stampin’ Pad on Whisper White cardstock.

The Stamparatus is great for ensuring good coverage on solid stamps. I LOVE it for repeat stamping… exact placement is AWESOME! Boo-boos are rare with this gem since they can be easily fixed. 🙂

Accented Blooms
  • Emboss the front of your card base (and envelope flap) with the Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on your Big Shot machine
  • Punch out your sentiment area from stamped panel using the Tailored Tag Punch
  • Savvy Tip: Save your mistakes! This was left from a Christmas card gone wrong, but only you’ll know! (photo below)

  • Turn over and place Stampin’ Dimensionals all over the back. Cut up and use the edge that runs around the outside, too- no waste! (see photo above)
  • Insert your ribbon on the side, then remove the release paper from the Stampin’ Dimensionals around the punched area only, turn over and center over the sentiment.
  • Remove the balance of the release paper from the remaining Stampin’ Dimensionals and attach panel to card base. Tie ribbon into a small bow, cutting tails as needed. That’s it!

So much texture and dimension, with a single pop of color… I love how it turned out! And so simple with the right tools. What do ya think???

One Design- Two Ways using Rooted In Nature Bundle

One Design- Two Ways using Rooted In Nature Bundle

Today I’m here to share two cards that showcase the variability of the Rooted In Nature Bundle, part of the new Nature’s Poem Suite from Stampin’ Up! If you’re looking for a suite of coordinated products that enable you to create projects for both men and women, this is it! Who else loves versatility AND value??? Let me show you what I mean…rooted in nature bundle front card ideas stampinup stampin up tammy beard stampin savvy stampinsavvy copy

Card #1- Feminine

This first card features new colors Petal Pink and Blackberry Bliss, just two of the nine colors found in the Nature’s Poem Suite. Such a lovely, feminine card!

  • Cut leaf print from Nature’s Poem DSP to 3″ x 5″ (same measurements for second card)
  • Cut blackberry stripes from Nature’s Poem DSP to 3″ x 3-1/2″ (same measurements for second card)
  • Stamp log on Whisper White Cardstock with Petal Pink Classic Stampin’ Ink
  • Using your Stamparatus, stamp sentiment with Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin’ Pad, clean stamp then ink with Versamark and stamp in exact same place. Apply Clear Stampin’ Embossing Powder and melt with Heat Tool. (Savvy Tip: Use your Heat Tool on low speed to dry the dye ink, then rub Embossing Buddy over area before stamping in Versamark)
  • Stamp leaves (3 times) with Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin’ Pad on Petal Pink Cardstock and cut on Big Shot with coordinating Nature’s Roots Framelit Die.
  • Separate Nature’s Twine into three strands, then remove a single strand again and wind in circular motion under the sentiment. (Savvy Tip: Hold in place with a little SNAIL adhesive while you’re working)

Card #2 – Masculine

This second card features the same elements from the Nature’s Poem Suite, just mixed up a bit. Different patterns, colors, leaf stamp accents and sentiment. But the core elements are the same, just placed differently. Use the cut info from the first card for the large (leaf) print DSP and large Very Vanilla Cardstock. After stamping (with Soft Suede Classic Stampin’ Pad) and heat embossing this sentiment, trim to fit. The striped piece is 1/2″ wide by 3-1/2″ long. All together, decidedly masculine! See what I mean about versatile?!

Nature’s Poem Suite

The Nature’s Poem suite of products is really worth a look. For all seasons. Numerous occasions. Everything is designed to work together, saving you money and making it easy to create lots of different projects.

For Father’s Day: Mens Gift Card Holder With Video Tutorial

For Father’s Day: Mens Gift Card Holder With Video Tutorial

So glad you’re here for today’s fun-fold project, just in time for Father’s Day: a mens gift card holder that looks like a shirt! It’s quick, easy and fun to make with your favorite 12″ Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper and a few basic tools. Just the ticket if you need a last minute gift (I won’t tell)!

mens gift card holder card ideas tranquil textures stampinup stampin up stampinsavvy stampin savvy

Inspired by an origami design I saw several years ago on the Stetler Arts blog, I adapted it to a size that holds a gift card and is mail-able (or give-able) in Stampin’ Up!’s medium envelopes. It’s such a unique way to present money or a gift card to a guy!

This project is simple to make, but, a bit difficult to write out. So I encourage you to watch the video first. Supply list and measurements follow…

    Card Tutorial

    • 6″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper
    • Stampin’ Trimmer
    • Bone Folder
    • SNAIL
    • Glue Dots
    • 3 Buttons
    • Pencil
    • Medium Envelope

Instructions: I recommend watching the short video first; the instructions will make a lot more sense!

    • Score on SHORT side @ 4-1/2″ and 1-1/2″ (that’s 1-1/2″ in from each edge on 6″ side)
    • Score on LONG side @ 4″, 5-1/4″ and 6-1/2″; then 3/4″ from end
    • On opposite end from 3/4″ score line above, mark with pencil 2-1/4″ from end on long side; score from this mark diagonally to long score line (see photo). Repeat on other side.  This forms the sleeves.

mens gift card holder closeup2 stampin up stampinup stampinsavvy stampin savvy

    • Fold long score lines in first, then diagonals, then 4″, 5-1/4 and 6-1/2″ lines, with center  crease folded in the opposite direction (to look like a “M”). Fold back 3/4″ crease.
    • At top (3/4″ crease) mark from center out 1/2″ on both sides; on long side mark 2″ down each side. Score several times on each side diagonally. Fold in and apply glue dot to adhere. Apply glue dots to hold down sleeves.

    • Cut oval with largest die from Stitched Shapes Framelits and stamp sentiment of choice. Adhere with SNAIL.
    • Close and adhere buttons to front with glue dots.
    • Sign, enclose money or gift card, insert in medium envelope and make someone’s day by giving it away! Handmade Happiness 🙂

Natures Poem Suite Ideal for Masculine Cards (including Father’s Day)

    Natures Poem Masculine Card

Looking for card ideas for the men in your life? Stampin’ Up!’s new Natures Poem suite of products are ideal for masculine cards and so much more. The suite features specially designed stamps, paper and embellishments to coordinate beautifully (or handsomely) together, eliminating the guesswork and expense of needing to mix and match several different items. With Father’s Day just a week away, it’s an ideal time to put this suite to use!

natures poem masculine card ideas stampinup stampin up stampin savvy stampinsavvy

Today’s project was inspired by a card on page 144 of the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalog. Originally a feminine card, it’s now a masculine one just by simplifying the elements and using darker colors. It’s easy to do; give it a try with some of the other choices in the Designer Series Paper! NOTE: The other large sentiment in the stamp set (You are Wonderful) also fits on the ‘log’. Pick your favorite for a Father’s Day greeting!

    Rooted In Nature

The ‘Rooted In Nature’ mega-set of stamps feature natural images designed to use with a variety of techniques. You’ll find two in this card: watermark stamping (the leaves on the card base stamped with Versamark ink) and heat embossing (the sentiment). The set has a great mix of leaves, trees and different sized sentiments; ideal for any season and many occasions.

The Natures Poem Designer Series Paper features 12 double-sided 12″ x 12″ sheets. You’ll find natural images on one side, with patterns on the reverse. The colors include Blackberry Bliss, Cajun Craze, Grapefruit Grove, Mint Macaron, Petal Pink, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede, Tranquil Tide and Whisper White.

The coordinating cardstock pack includes 8 sheets each (24 total) of Petal Pink, Soft Suede and Tranquil Tide… perfect for masculine and feminine cards!

Nature’s Twine features four spools of 5 yards each in Blackberry Bliss, Crumb Cake, Grapefruit Grove and Mint Macaron. Several strands thick, it’s easy to separate these natural fibers for versatility and value.

The Leaves Trinkets include two designs in two finishes: a single leaf and leaf sprig in both copper and silver finished metal (6 each for a total of 24). They make attractive accents and come in a convenient (and re-usable) storage case!

“Fabulous” Miniature Pizza Box for 3×3 Mini Cards

“Fabulous” Miniature Pizza Box for 3×3 Mini Cards

Welcome: so glad you’re here! Today I’ve got a “Fabulous” 3D project for the 3×3 mini cards  shared Wednesday (seen HERE), as well as a bonus second card set!

Not only are 3×3 mini cards quick and simple to create, they’re easy to give using Stampin’ Up!’s 3×3 Envelopes. Want a great gift for a friend, teacher or coworker? Create either set of cards and package them in these cute miniature Pizza Boxes!

stitched all around pizza box 3x3 mini cards

    Quick & Easy Gift Box

Once again, the ‘Stitched All Around’ Bundle and 2018-2020 In Color Designer Series Paper feature in this project. They pair wonderfully and are so enjoyable to work with, with so many creative possibilities.

    • Assemble Pizza Box, shiny side in (it’s food safe!). I like to add Glue Dots to the flaps at the back of the box. Helps the “box” to hold it’s shape better.
    • Cut and adhere 3-3/8 square of DSP to the top. (Lovely Lipstick pattern shown)
    • Cut 1-1/2″ x 11″ strip of  cardstock (Lovely Lipstick shown); emboss with Textured Impressions Embossing Folder of choice (Petal Pair shown). The strip is longer than the folder, so just emboss one end, turn paper around matching pattern in the middle and emboss other end. Score at 2-1/4″, 3-3/8″, 7″ and 8-1/8″. Adhere ends together on top (to be hidden under stitched label). It’s slightly loose to easily slip on/off.
    • Cut Whisper White cardstock with stitched label framelits die from the ‘Stitched All Around’ Bundle and stamp sentiment with Lovely Lipstick Classic Stampin’ Pad. Adhere Stampin’ Dimensionals to Lovely Lipstick band and attach. Add Rhinestone Basic Jewel to dot the letter ‘i’. That’s it!

    BONUS Thank You Cards

Here’s a bonus idea – another set of 3×3 mini cards! Follow the same method of production suggested for Wednesday’s cards. Total time for this entire project: 30-40 minutes!

    • Punch leaf sprigs three times per card with Leaf Punch; attach to card.
    • Stamp sentiment on Whisper White cardstock, one in each In Color, then cut with circle framelits die from ‘Stitched All Around’ Bundle. Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Decorate envelope flap with coordinating DSP.

Five Mini Cards in 30 Minutes for Grad, Wedding & Birthday Gifts

    Multi-Occasion Mini Cards

Happy Wednesday! As I was thinking about events coming up (graduations, weddings and birthdays), I thought “Wouldn’t it be nice to come up with one card that would work on gifts for them all?” So “TA-DA!” If you like that idea, too, I’m here to share today’s all-purpose mini cards! And to top that ice cream sundae off with whipped cream and a cherry: start to finish for 5 cards = 30 minutes!  WIN-WIN!

After creating Mondays’ “delightful” card (with a similar theme, seen HERE) I just wasn’t ready to put away the Stitched All Around Bundle or the new In Color Designer Series Paper (DSP). They’re both at the top of my favorites list at the moment!

    stiched all around mini cards

The key to saving time when creating multiples is to do what I call batch processing and assembly line production. Which is just a fancy way of saying do like things all at once, then assemble last.

    • Grab your Stampin’ Trimmer and cut and score your Whisper White mini cards first. Here’s a Savvy Tip for 8-1/2″ x 11″ paper.
      • Cut it 6″ wide by 9″ long
      • Score on the short side at 3″
      • Now cut on the long side at 3″ and 6″
      • You’ll have three 3″ x 6″ cards, all ready to fold into 3″ x 3″ mini cards
      • Repeat a second time, for a total of 6. Never hurts to have an extra!
      • If you’re not into scraps, get the 12″ x 12″ Whisper White Cardstock for zero waste and eight cards per sheet!
    • Cut your DSP to 3″ x 3″ (one of each color). I like cutting them a titch big.
    • Next, move to your Big Shot and die cut six stitched labels from Whisper White Cardstock. That’s also one extra, for boo-boo’s or to go with your extra card. You can thank me later 🙂 Trim down on your Stampin’ Trimmer (see photo below). Save that extra piece for another project later!
    • In both these photos (above and below), you’ll notice I stamped first, then cut. That was mostly for staging the photos. It’s probably easier to cut first, then stamp- but, do whatever works for you.

    • Let’s stamp! Set up your stamp area like an assembly line. Lay your stitched labels out -one under each stamp pad- and stamp, clean, stamp-clean-stamp-clean… in each of the five In Colors. It goes super quick. If you also like to sign the back of your cards, now’s the time to stamp them as well. Like I suggested Monday, leave the insides blank to add later for just the occcasion you need.

    stitched all around mini cards

    • Last thing to prep: cut your ribbon to about 15″, one of each In Color.
    • Now we’re ready to assemble. Have everything in front of you, along with your favorite adhesive, Bone Folder, Stampin’ Dimensionals and Snips.
    • Adhere DSP to all card fronts. Use your Bone Folder to crease fold.
    • With card closed, wrap your ribbon around the card with the bottom tail slightly longer. Center on the front and secure with a Dimensional (leave the top paper on). See photo below.
    • Attach Dimensionals to back of Stitched Label (as shown below). Leave the paper backing on- we’re not ready to adhere yet!

    stitched all around mini cards

    • With paper still on your Dimensionals, flip it upright and pull the ribbon through the center opening on the edge (as shown below).
    • Flip it back over; now remove paper backing on all Dimensionals and adhere to the card front.
    • Tie the Ribbon into a bow. Trim ends, if necessary. That’s it!
    • Repeat with the other In Colors.

    stitched all around mini cards

I just love the versatility of this bundle! Especially, the Framelits dies! There’s a variety of label sizes and shapes to fit lots of different sentiments (not just these coordinating stamps), PLUS two embossed edge dies, that fun x pattern, a teeny stitched heart and two circles! Buy them bundled together and save 10%!

If you’re a fan of coordinating products like I am, then grab these goodies and plan to create oodles of beautiful projects with them! The colors are bright, cheery and oh, so “Lovely” (catch that?! lol)

Delightfully Detailed Card in 3 Easy Steps with Savvy Tips

Delightfully Detailed Card in 3 Easy Steps

Happy Monday! I’m excited for those of you that placed orders this weekend! The new Stampin’ Up! catalog launched Friday and you’ll be among the first to play with the new products! I enjoy seeing what you pick… new colors and bundles top the list so far! Savvy choices!

Today’s Delightfully Detailed card features a mix of several new products (why choose just one?!) including the new Delightfully Detailed Specialty Paper. Plus, I’ve got a Savvy Tip for you that hopefully you’ll enjoy. It comes in handy when you need a card, but don’t have time to make one. delightfully detailed card front

    In Color 2018-2020 6×6 DSP

The new In-Color Designer Series Paper in ‘Lovely Lipstick’ shines here. I LOVE basic patterns like polka-dots and stripes. Who else likes versatile? And CUTE! Layered under the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper, it just perks this card UP! Any of the other In-Colors would also work… pick your fave or make them all! Touches of Basic Gray give it a modern twist.

in color 2018-2020 6x6 designer series paper

    Delightfully Detailed

And speaking of this Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper… can I just say it’s INCREDIBLE!  It was actually delightful to work with. It’s a wonderful mix of borders, card-size panels and full sheets you can cut apart to make a TON of cards! And it’s double-sided: whisper white one one side, very vanilla on the reverse!

delightfully detailed laser cut specialty paper

I admit I was a little concerned it’d be fussy to work with, but, I’m happy to report it wasn’t! Cutting the flowers apart was easy; just snip off what you want. It took me about 10 minutes- the most time-consuming element on this card!

Plus, there’s enough solid areas to glue, including the border strip, so that concern was also alleviated. I used the Multi-Purpose Glue and it was fine; the Fine-Tip Glue Pen would probably be ideal. Savvy Tip: If you get a little glue seepage, let it dry, then pounce the Embossing Buddy over it. It’ll cover any residual stickiness. All-in-all, much easier than anticipated.

    delightfully detailed card close up

    Easy to trim and glue!

Have you ever had cards in your stash, but not the one you need? I’m all for creating multi-purpose cards that can be customized later, when a need arises. The sentiment on the front of this Delightfully Detailed card (from the Varied Vases stamp set) is a great example of one that works for so many things. Birthdays. Weddings. Encouragement. Love.

    • My tip: create a card as normal, but leave the sentiment blank (can be either and/or both the front and inside sentiments).
    • In this example, I used a multi-purpose sentiment for the front and left the inside blank, to add later- based on my needs.
    • When you need a card, simply stamp your sentiment to fit the need and you’re good to go! Waaaaaaaay less time than starting from scratch. Put this into practice, and you’ll find you’re rarely missing the card you need!

    delightfully detailed card inside

    3-Step Customize-It-Later card

    1. Create side-fold A2 Card Base in Thick Whisper White; cut off 1/2″ from front long edge. Cut In-Color DSP to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″; cut 1/2″ from long edge. Adhere polka-dot pattern to front panel. Flip 1/2″ strip over (it’s now stripes!) and adhere to inside panel edge.  (Optional: Decorate the inside with the lovely flower and vase stamps in matching inks)
    2. Trim Delightfully Detailed Specialty Paper as desired. Adhere to front panel, with border along long edge.
    3. Take 5-1/2″ x 3″ piece of Basic Gray cardstock and die cut one edge with stitched die from the Stitched Labels Framelits. Trim down to 1/4″ wide and adhere to inside panel, making sure to check reveal with card closed. Stamp sentiment with Versamark and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Trim and punch end with Triple Banner Punch. Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    4.  Optional: Decorate the envelope. The Petal Pair Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is a great option. I think it pairs perfectly with the Delightfully Detailed paper!

Hope you enjoyed today’s Delightfully Detailed card and have as much fun making it as I did!

How To Earn Free Rewards, A Graduation Card and Stampin’ Blend News!

Free Rewards “How To”, A Graduation Card & Stampin’ Blend News!

Happy Wednesday, stamping friends! I’d just like to start by saying I love giving to others. Family. Friends. Customers. And I want YOU to be included!  So today I’m going to share with you how to earn free rewards from me with every order you place. No matter the size. Plus, I’ve got a fun graduation card made with Host Stamps- a reward earned from Stampin’ Up! Double delight! Oh, and Stampin’ Blend news, too! Hang on… we’re covering a lot of ground!

Let’s start with Rewards. There’s two ways to earn free rewards with me, so let me break it down: (1) Orders $150 and OVER -or- (2) Orders UNDER $150. Regardless of which camp you’re likely in, I encourage you to read the whole post. There’s a lot of great info.

OPTION #1: Orders $150 and Over

In the Stampin’ Up! world, freebies are called Host Rewards. Aptly named for gifts given to the host of a party (the business model Stampin’ Up! started with -which is still alive and well today- but, no longer the only method, thanks to the world-wide-web.) The important point I want to make is anyone placing an order $150 or more earns Host Rewards. You can be a party of one and qualify! Or here’s an idea: combine orders with your friends to get the most benefits. You can have the party when your happy mail arrives!

    • No code required
    • Stampin’ Up! Rewards start at 10% for orders $150+ ($150 order earns $15 Rewards)
    • Rewards increase to 12% for orders $300+
    • Orders $450+ earn 14% Rewards and (1) 50% off Item
    • Orders $600+ earn 16% Rewards and (1) 50% off Item
    • Rewards can be immediately used for any item(s) in any current catalog
    • Rewards are based on total product order (before tax and shipping)
    • The above Rewards are from Stampin’ Up!
    • You automatically qualify for my current rewards (no action required on your part). They’ll arrive separately from your SU! order, typically no later the middle of the following month

Part of Host Rewards is the opportunity to purchase Host Stamp Sets. These are exclusive stamps only available through redemption of Host Rewards. There’s six to choose from in the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalog, including the fun set used today called ‘Hand Delivered’. (They’re all found on pages 226-229)

    • IMPORTANT: Host Stamp Sets can only be purchased with Host Rewards.
    • For example: Hand Delivered can be redeemed for $13 in Host Rewards, leaving you a little extra for something else!

    Graduation Card

Just look at all the options in this set…and sentiments! It’s good for so many occasions. Here’s the fun graduation card I’ve made for my niece, Mikayla.

    graduation card stampin up

The striped accent is from the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper; envelope flap decor from Pick-A-Pattern DSP- both retiring tomorrow! (Great use for scraps!) Card base is Real Red. The sentiment was stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. Don’t forget to use your Embossing Buddy before stamping! Coloring was done with Stampin’ Blend Markers. Clear Wink of Stella glitter makes the balloons shimmer.

    Here’s a peek at the inside…

    graduation card stampin up inside

My favorite part… a place to stash the cash! The little 3″ x 3″ envelopes introduced in last year’s Holiday Catalog are (happily) here to stay. They’re perfect to stash a little gift. They’ll also fit a gift card with the flap left up (use a scrap of Designer Series Paper to decorate the inside of the flap and hide the adhesive)- or just tuck it in.

graduation card close up stampin up stampin savvy

Savvy Tip: Slip a piece of scrap paper inside the envelope before coloring to absorb any bleed-through common with alcohol markers.

Are you ready for the news? ALL Stampin’ Blend Markers in current colors are back in stock- available to order NOW! Yippeee! Plus, there’s eleven new colors being added, although these may not be available until mid-June, due to shipping delays. The Stampin’ Blend Markers are HOT, so don’t wait! They sold out very fast before and have been on back-order for months, so there’s likely a pent-up demand that may drain inventory quickly.

graduation card closeup coloring stampin up stampin savvy

Here’s my Savvy Coloring Tip of the day: After your coloring’s complete, go around the outer edge with the fine tip end of the Light Pool Party marker (Light Smoky Slate can also work). It’s a subtle effect that creates a soft shadow. I colored a bit heavy on the left side of her outfit so it’d be easier for you to see (it’s so light on camera unless you really look hard!). See it?

How To Get Rewards for Orders UNDER $150

Now back to the Rewards. What if you’re order is LESS than $150? Do you lose out? NO! Here’s what I do so everyone can earn rewards…

    • I post an exclusive Rewards Code every month here on the website. I encourage you to apply it on all orders under $150.
    • On computers, the Rewards Code is found on the right sidebar. On mobile devices, it follows every post.
    • Every time the Code is used, the order totals combine- as if it’s one order!
    •  When the total exceeds $150, rewards start to accrue.
    • At the end of the month (typically) I redeem the rewards for free product, which I in turn distribute to each of you who used the Rewards Code. Plus, I pay tax and shipping!
    • Use the Rewards Code> Get Rewarded! That way everyone wins, regardless of the size of your order!
    • Every month is something different. Sometimes a full package of embellishments. Sometimes a sampler pack of several items. I love to surprise you!
    • These rewards come from me, separate from your Stampin’ Up! order. They’re typically mailed (at the latest) the first week or two of the following month after your order.{It takes a week for me to get them after they’re redeemed, then I package and ship to you.}
    • When you place your order, there’s a HOST CODE box in your Shopping Bag. That’s where you cut and paste my Rewards Code. That’s it. I take care of the rest 🙂

host code stampin up stampin savvy

    Go forth and SHOP!

I hope you enjoyed today’s graduation card and rewards tutorial. I know it’s a lot of info, but I want you to earn all the freebies you can!

I’d like to add that whether you use my exclusive Rewards Code or not, you can always expect a handmade thank you card, as well as a greeting card for you to use as inspiration or to gift. It’s my way of saying thank you for choosing me as your demonstrator. I truly appreciate each and every one of you!

Reminder: Tomorrow’s the LAST DAY to shop retiring items, as well as the ‘Share What You Love’ Bundles. All orders must be submitted by 10:59pm PST Thursday, May 31, 2018! Have fun!

Showing Off My Daughter and Her Varied Vases Birthday Card

    Varied Vases Birthday Card

Happy Memorial Day Monday! Hope this finds you enjoying (and appreciating) the freedom we have here in the USA. Freedom that’s been protected by countless men and women who’ve given their lives for our country… and every one of us!  Something definitely worth celebrating!

Speaking of celebrating, our family made merry for my daughter’s birthday this weekend, so I thought I’d share! She loves tulips, so as I was contemplating ideas for her card, the new Stampin’ Up! bundle ‘Varied Vases’ came to mind. It was perfect! Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time (you’ll see where my time went later in the post), so it needed to be quick, but, it’s my daughter, so it also needed to be cute! Here’s the Varied Vases birthday card I came up with!

    Varied Vases birthday card front

I wanted something to “ground” the oval, so a scrap piece from the retiring Tutti-Frutti Designer Series Paper fit (last 3 days to get it!, but, you can use the scallop stamp in the set to achieve the same effect. It even has a coordinating solid stamp that colors the scallops, making it super versatile.

Notice the new colors? Mango Melody (tulips), Granny Apple Green (leaves), Coastal Cabana (vase) and on envelope Soft Sea Foam (spray of flowers). Don’t forget to decorate the envelope, too! It starts the party before you open the card!

    Varied Vases birthday card closeup

My daughter’s a little …ahem… finicky when it comes to gifts, so my hubby and I gave her money this year to splurge on something for herself. Anyone else have someone hard to shop for? Well, the little 3″ x 3″ envelopes are perfect to tuck money or a gift card into!

I stamped the little flowers from the ‘Varied Vases’ set on the flap (in Soft Sea Foam), with the sentiment (in Coastal Cabana) from another new stamp set coming Friday called ‘Stitched All Around’ (yep, you’re gonna want it!). The tulip covers an ink boo-boo. Shhhhh!

    Varied Vases birthday card inside

    Coming June 1st

Oh, my! Is this stamp set fun, or what?!! So many possibilities, yet so simple and easy to use. Paired with the coordinating punch, you can mix and match easily and effortlessly! Today’s Varied Vases birthday card was so much fun to create. I just wanted to keep playing!!!

    varied vases bundle

Last I heard, the Varied Vases bundle was the top-selling set among demonstrators during pre-order (one of the many perks of being a demonstrator!). No surprise there! It’s a fabulous set inspired by Mary Fish, my very sweet and generous upline, as a reward for achieving a million dollars in career sales. You’re gonna want it! Since I had so little time to play, you’ll definitely be seeing more cards coming soon!

    Happy Birthday!

So here’s my beautiful daughter Jess showing off the Lemon Raspberry Bundt cake I made her. By request. From scratch. Looked (and smelled) sooo good and was a hit with the fam. (Thank you for a great recipe!) I’m dairy and gluten free, so none for me… and I wanted it baaaaad! Sacrificing is what we moms are known for, huh? lol

    Varied Vases birthday card

She was pretty darn excited as we sang ‘Happy Birthday’! She’s a goof. Funny. Smart. Loving. Generous. We’re very proud to have her as our daughter.

Gender Neutral Sympathy Card Challenge with Color Insight

    Gender Neutral Sympathy Card

Happy Wednesday! Today’s post addresses a situation that everyone confronts at one time or another. Death. A sympathy card conveys kindness and concern, love and support during a difficult time. It brings comfort during the grieving process. But they can be challenging to make, especially if you’re also grieving. Grief is not conducive to creativity. And since the need typically arises unexpectedly, I find they’re best to have on hand before you need them.

So I set out to create a sympathy card that is gender neutral, attractive without being too “artsy” (explanation to follow) and most important, comforting. It also needed to be simple and easy to create so I could make several at a time. Today’s card ticks off all those boxes!

    Insight from the Experienced

A friend who lost her husband several years ago recently shared with me the importance of an appropriate looking sympathy card. While she appreciated the thoughtfulness of all the cards she’d received, some affected her more positively than others. Emotions were raw and she was most comforted by those that were simple and soothing. She’s now really careful in her selection of a card for someone else grieving. Nothing bright, artsy or fussy. She felt very strongly about this. Words of wisdom from someone that’s been there.

    The Psychology of Color

Without realizing it, part of what she was referring to was the psychology of color. We all know different colors evoke different feelings. Red is considered a “warm” color, often associated with fire. NOT an appropriate color for a sympathy card, right? So what color would be the best choice? Here’s a little insight from

Light (sky) blue: (associated with) peace, serenity, ethereal, spiritual, infinity
(The origin of these meanings is the intangible aspects of the sky. Also evocative of water.)
Blue is the top favorite color in the world.  It’s universally popular.

Next time you want a card to convey a particular feeling, do a little research first. Fun and fascinating, huh?

    Card Details

So soft blue is an excellent choice for the card base. Soft Sky, Pool Party (shown) or the new Balmy Blue would all work. As an accent, Pear Pizzazz (a soft green) also evokes feelings of nature associated with a calming influence. What better to keep that theme of nature than the Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder and simple leaf pattern in the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper (with classic black and white). All work well to maintain gender neutrality. It’s a card appropriate for both males and females.

I chose to tone down the white background of the DSP by brayering on a little Pool Party ink. I repeated the same technique I shared yesterday with the stamped leaves and flowers from the coordinating Petal Palette bundle, stamping off first to soften the images (including the inside greeting panel, shown below). Add a single vellum die cut from the same bundle (leaf sprig or flowers), simple ribbon and sentiment and the card is done… and friend approved.

With the design work done, I challenge you to follow my lead and create your own stash of sympathy cards. You’ll thank me later:)  While it’d be nice to not need them, you’ll be glad to have them if you do.

Final days to get many retiring products, including a few from today’s project (Petal Passion DSP, Petal Palette Bundle, Rose Wonder stamps & White Organza Ribbon). So many specials, discounts and freebies to take advantage of! Check them out below…

Easy Ways To Alter Petal Passion DSP with Ink

    Alter Petal Passion DSP

Welcome back to this bonus Tuesday post! So glad you’re here! 🙂

I’m so in love with all the ways you can alter Petal Passion DSP (Designer Series Paper) that I wanted to share with you one more fun way to use the simple card sketch design shared yesterday. If you missed it, I encourage you to check it out HERE. It’s full of lots of info- including the special give-away I announced!

Today’s cards feature something you’ve already got in your craft room: Classic Stampin’ Pads and stamps. Theyr’e today’s alteration “tool” of choice -used a couple different ways- to step up this already gorgeous patterned paper. I just can’t get enough of it!
    simple card sketches

    Altered With Ink

It’s so easy to alter Petal Passion DSP (or others) with stamps and ink. {Another favorite that looks great altered is the Wood Textures DSP. Psst, it’s the ONLY current DSP that’ll still be available after June 1st!} Add the Sponge Brayer to your tools and you’ve got endless possibilities! Both these methods are seen in the cards above and below. Quick. Simple. Fun. With unique results!

    Savvy Tips, Tricks and Techniques

    • I pulled out some retired Watermelon Wonder cardstock and ink for this one. I just missed it! The newly returning color ‘Poppy Parade’ (coming June 1) will be a welcome substitute for this retired fave color!
    • Ink the leaves stamp from the coordinating ‘Petal Palette’ stamp set with a Pear Pizzazz Classic Stampin’ Pad, stamped off once and repeated a few times randomly on the DSP.
    • Ditto with the flower stamp and Watermelon Wonder ink. Stamp sentiment in same.
    • Die cut sentiment from the coordinating ‘Petals & More’ framelits.
    • Pop the cardstock and sentiment up on Stampin’ Dimensionals to add depth and interest.

    ‘BEST WISHES’ Card:

    • Pear Pizzazz cardstock and Classic Stampin’ Pad (leaves) were used in the same way as above, after Soft Sky ink was brayered to lightly color DSP first. It’s a subtle change on camera, but it’s lovely in person.
    • Color the bird with the combo ‘Night of Navy’ Stampin’ Blend markers. A blender pen and ink would also work.
    • Die cut both the bird and sentiment with the coordinating ‘Petals & More’ framelits.
    • Again, pop up both features with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • To brayer color, ink the sponge on the ink pad several times, rotating as you go. Use a light touch. You can always add more. The more pressure you use, the more ink will transfer. Work over the Grid Paper (or scratch paper) and start off the card for best results. Practice a little… you’ll quickly get the hang of it!

    simple card sketches

    • Color the note card with the sponge brayer first. Starting in the bottom right corner and working up at a diagonal, use Mint Macaron ink first, then layer Daffodil Delight ink just in the corner. I was a little heavy handed with the pressure on this. Notice the difference between the two cards. A very light touch was used on the Thank You card. Practice to see what you prefer.
    • Stampin’ Write Markers Mint Macaron and Daffodil Delight add a few touches of color to select flowers on the DSP, as well as the sentiment (plus Basic Black); punch with the Tailored Tag Punch.
    • Add a little White Organza Ribbon on the DSP, layered over Mint Macaron cardstock and you’re done. {Check out this post on how to color this ribbon and alter embellishments!}

    ‘THANK YOU’ Card:

    • Create a handmade 3″ x 3″ card made with Whisper White cardstock and add a 3″ x 3″ Envelope.
    • Use the sponge brayer inked in Mint Macaron to color half the card from the bottom left corner, with a touch of Pear Pizzazz layered over it just in the corner.
    • Ink the leaf stamp on the Old Olive Classic Stampin’ pad, then stamp off once on a scrap piece of paper, and stamp twice on the card, adding the bird and sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.
    • Color the bird with combo Old Olive Stampin’ Blend Markers, with a touch of Wink of Stella clear glitter on his tummy. Yes, I’m addicted to WoS!
    • Repeat the sponge brayering on the envelope and stamp bird. SAVVY TIP: If you want to color the bird, slip a scratch piece of cardstock inside to absorb any bleed-through common with alcohol markers!
    FREE Give-Aways

I shared yesterday that since I played hooky last Friday and missed a post, I was offering a special give away to make up for it! I’m giving all the cards shared today and yesterday to the first person placing an order before midnight tomorrow (Wednesday, May 22, 2018). All seven will be wrapped up and mailed to you to share or keep as inspiration. That’s in addition to the FREE goodies I’ll also include when you use my current Rewards Code (X62RG23J). I encourage you to use it- I LOVE spoiling you!

I hope this provides a little more inspiration for you and showcases different ways to alter Petal Passion DSP. I’ve got one last card to share tomorrow… I’m just not ready to say goodbye to this paper yet!

    Happy Stampin’!

Simple Card Sketches with Petal Passion Designer Series Paper

    Simple Card Sketches

Happy Monday! Love simple card sketches? Today’s cards are for you! If you noticed I was MIA last Friday, I’m sorry! These cards were meant for Friday’s post, but my hubby and I got away for a few days of rest and relaxation at the beach last week and ended up coming home later than planned. We had a wonderful time, but to make it up to you, I’ve got a special give-away. Make sure to read to the end for details!

    Just Add Color

Today’s cards feature more of the gorgeous black and white Petal Passion Designer Series Paper (DSP) I shared last week. It’s amazing what just a little coloring does to make this paper POP! And that’s what makes it so fun and versatile! Possibilities abound!!! (That’s a hint about tomorrow’s bonus post!)

    Stampin’ Write Markers are the coloring medium of choice for all three cards above, including the multi-colored sentiment on the top one. You know how much I recommend these… for so many reasons! {If not, see this post HERE!}

Here’s the details for each card, starting at the top, clockwise (items in RED are retiring and only available until supplies last or May 31, 2018):

    • ‘Thoughts & Prayers’ Card: Peekaboo Peach Cardstock, Classic Stampin’ Pad and Stampin Write Marker, Garden Green Stampin’ Write Marker; Sentiment from ‘Rose Wonder’ Stamp set
    • ‘Here’s To Celebrating You’ Card: Real Red Cardstock, Classic Stampin’ Pad and Stampin’ Write Marker, Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Write Marker; Sentiment from ‘Perennial Birthday’ Stamp set
    • ‘Thinking Of You’ Card: Lovely Lipstick Cardstock and Stampin’ Write Marker, Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Write Marker, Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker, Clear Wink of Stella glitter; Sentiment from ‘Lots of Love’ Stamp set. Sneak Peek at the NEW 1/8″ grosgrain ribbon coming June 1 in all five 2018-2020 In-Colors (Lovely Lipstick shown)

    Savvy Tips, Tricks & Techniques

    • Cut DSP 3″ square; cardstock 3-1/8″ (or 3-1/4″) square, depending on how much you like peeking out. That’s 16 cards from a single sheet of 12″ x 12″ DSP!
    • Stamp your sentiment (with ink from Stampin’ Write Markers or Classic Stampin’ Pads) on Whisper White Cardstock and use your favorite punches for quick cuts.
    • Pop both the cardstock and sentiment up with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give these simple cards more personality.
    • Step up the “wow” factor with Wink of Stella clear glitter and a coordinating ribbon.
    • Use Notecards and Envelopes for quick and easy ready-made cards.
    • Recognize this card sketch? I recently shared a “sweet” friend card using this same design made with the Tutti-Frutti DSP. Check it out HERE.
    • If you’ve missed the other card projects featuring this paper, you can see them HERE and HERE.
    Going, Going… almost GONE!

    simple card sketches

Since I was playing when I should’ve been working (teehee), I’m making it up to you by giving away all the cards in today’s (and tomorrow’s) post to the first person that places an order with me by midnight Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018.  Keep them for design inspiration or give them away. There’s seven total, enough to do both! Brand new, made-by-me, they’ll come with envelopes for you to enjoy!

When placing your order, cut and paste this Rewards Code X62RG23J into the Host Code on your order for free products from me on all orders placed by May 25th, 2018. I’ve got lots of brand-new retired and retiring goodies I want to share! These will be mailed from me, separately from your Stampin’ Up! order, no later than the first week of June. See the other Bundles Specials below. You get all freebies that qualify!!!

Simple card sketches are good to have in your creative arsenal. They’re great for making a quick and easy card, or when you just want a little inspirational nudge. Grab the Petal Passion DSP while you can! More inspiration coming tomorrow! Meanwhile, I can’t wait to see who I’ll be mailing the cards to… will it be YOU???

    Happy Stampin’!
