Tropical Escape Cards- One Design, Three Examples

Tropical Escape Cards

Ready for a little Tropical Escape? If you can’t get away to dip your toes in the sand, how about a little trip to your craft area to create some Tropical Escape cards made with Stampin’ Up!’s Tropical Escape 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper and the oh, so fun Tropical Chic stamp set. One design- three examples. Did I mention they’re simply lovely? As in Simple to make. Lovely to give. And no sand to clean up!

tropical escape cards, stampin up, card ideas, stampinup, stampin savvy, tammy beard

The first example (above) is my non-traditional take on tropical! Who else likes pink and black?? We made this at our Paper Hugs Club class this past weekend and I loved my friend Molly’s reaction when she said she never thinks to stamp on Designer Series Paper! She’s not the only one. Do you? It’s a fun technique that’s easy to do and gives a great layered look.

  • With Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, repeatedly stamp the leaf image from the Tropical Chic stamp set on a 3-3/8″ x 4-7/8″ piece of pink floral Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper. Attach it to the front of a Note Card with Multi-Purpose Glue or SNAIL Adhesive.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Versamark Ink and heat emboss with White Stampin’ Embossing Powder on Basic Black Cardstock, trimmed with the Triple Banner Punch. Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Ink the hibiscus stamp on the Blushing Bride Classic Stampin’ Pad and dab a bit of Flirty Flamingo ink in the center with a Sponge Dauber; stamp on Whisper White Cardstock. Doodling is optional, but recommended with a Black Stampin’ Write Marker! Wink of Stella Glitter adds a lovely pop of shimmer. Die-cut with the coordinating Tropical Thinlits die and attach with a Stampin’ Dimensional

tropical escape cards, stampin up, card ideas, stampinup, stampin savvy, 2, tammy beard

The above example is classic tropics!

  • Ink the Monstera leaf image with a Shaded Spruce Classic Stampin’ Pad. (Use Shaded Spruce Cardstock for the sentiment).
  • The black seeds blowing in the wind are stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
  • Ink the hibiscus image on a Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin’ Pad and highlight the edges with Mango Melody ink applied with a Sponge Dauber. More doodling. Definitely Wink of Stella shimmer!

tropical escape cards, stampin up, card ideas, stampinup, stampin savvy, 3, tammy beard

Our last example is reversed from the first card. I chose one of the leaf print designs and stamped the flowers with a Lovely Lipstick Classic Stampin’ Pad (and coordinating Cardstock).

Don’t they just make you smile? They’re quick and simple, with several different patterns in the Tropical Escape paper pack to choose from. Mix and match stamps. Pick your own color mix. If you want an even simpler version, simply stamp the sentiment on Whisper White Cardstock and forego the heat embossing. Turn on some tropical tunes and have fun!

sIMPLE bABY bOY cARD wITH DIY cLOUDS pICTORIAL

sIMPLE bABY bOY cARD

hAPPY fRIDAY! Today I’m sharing a simple baby boy card that combines elements from different stamp sets- plus a pictorial on how to create your own DIY clouds. Mixing and matching stamps and creating your own scenery isn’t hard and allows you to customize your projects in ways that may be “outside the (stamp) box”. Getting more from what you have is just plain…. SAVVY!

simple baby boy card, stampin up, swirly bird, flourishing phrases, stampinup, stampin savvy, tammy beard

sEASONAL lAYERS fRAMELITS dIES

To prepare for my Paper Hugs Club class last month (featuring techniques with Sponge Daubers- one of my fave coloring tools), I created these clouds as an example of ways to create scenery. Think clouds, waves (upside down clouds), sun rays, etc… they’re so easy and fun to do! Simply create a stencil, then pounce (or rub) along the edge, moving it to cover the area desired.

The scalloped die from the SEASONAL LAYERS Framelits Dies does double-duty here in creating the stencil for the clouds AND adding a cute edge to the card front .Did you catch that?

simple baby boy card, seasonal layers framelits dies, sponge daubers, stampin up, stampin savvy, stampinup, tammy beard

The main sentiment on the front and inside is from FLOURISHING PHRASES… a great multi-occasion set. I like it because it’s full of two-part sentiments designed to use on the front AND inside of your cards. While the one I chose is intended as an encouragement sentiment, by adding “Welcome Little One” (from the new ANIMAL OUTING set), we’ve created a new baby sentiment. Plus, the mix of fonts makes it right on trend! (photo below)

simple baby boy card, stampin up, animal outing, stampinup, stampin savvy, tammy beard

The classic color combination of red, white and blue is perfect to welcome a new little boy to the world- especially when you soften the colors. And while Lovely Lipstick is a little on the pink side of red, don’t you agree it still works?

Color Inspiration, balmy blue, lovely lipstick, whisper white, stampin up, stampin savvy, tammy beard

bEHIND tHE sCENES

Today’s project started with the clouds I created for that class. Then I thought about what might go with clouds and came up with the kite from the SWIRLY BIRD set (which had to be red!). The front sentiment just fit with the clouds, but, at this point it was looking like a baby boy card. Hmmm. What to do??? I searched my stamp sets for ideas on how to end the sentiment sentence but came up blank. Then it occurred to me I could just go with it, as intended, and add “Welcome Little One”. Perfect! Sometimes I have a clear idea of where I’m going before I start. Other times, a single design element leads me. On a long, winding path. lol  Anyone else???

I hope this simple baby boy card makes you smile and inspires you to be creative with your own stamps and tools! Sometimes it’s just fun to P L A Y !

I hope you’ll join me next week for a tropical retreat featuring the new TROPICAL CHIC Suite. I’ve been playing all week and am excited to share with you a few ideas you probably haven’t seen yet! See you Monday 🙂

Blended Seasons Bundle Congrats Card Project

Happy Monday! I’ve been enjoying the new Limited Edition BLENDED SEASONS Bundle so much, I’ve got another card project for you today, this one featuring the other half of the bundle: the Stitched Seasons Framelits Dies. The stitching on these dies adds so much detail- it’s on both the positive and negative side of the cut: a two-for-one!

blended seasons bundle, stampin up, card ideas, stampinup, stampin savvy. tammy beard

Don’t you just love the new Gray Granite? It’s on the taupe side, with a titch of brown, perfect to pair with Blushing Bride and accent with Mossy Meadow. It’s a modern color combination that would be lovely for a wedding, to celebrate a new baby girl or for any feminine card occasion.

Savvy Tips for the Project:
  • Stamp “Congrats” randomly in Versamark ink.
  • “Wishing You All The Best”: Stamp first (Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin’ Pad) on Whisper White Cardstock, then die-cut.
  • Stack a small piece of Flirty Flamingo Cardstock over the same size Blushing Bride Cardstock (just large enough for the flower) and cut them with the Framelits Die together on the Big Shot machine. Lift off just the Flirty Flamingo center to reveal the underlying Blushing Bride: a two-toned flower with a little dimension!
  • Die cut the entire Framelit Die once with Mossy Meadow Cardstock. Glue the flowers on top. Adhere with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Brush Wink of Stella Glitter on the flower.
  • Position the 1″ striped Gray Granite piece (from the 6″ x 6″ Neutrals Designer Series Paper pack) level with the sentiment. It helps draw your eye to it and “grounds” the center panel (which is attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals).
    blended-seasons-bundle-stampin-up-card-ideas-closeup-stampinup-stampin-savvy.-tammy-beard

Instead of the large floral stamp decorating the front, use it to decorate the inside greeting panel, as well as the envelope. It coordinates beautifully with the Framelits die.

Blended Seasons Card with Eclipse Technique for Festive Friday Challenge

Blended Seasons Card for Festive Friday Challenge

Happy Friday! You know those (rare) moments when all is right with the world and it’s game on? I had one of those with today’s Blended Seasons card project! I woke up with this card clear in my mind and executed it exactly as I’d pictured it!  Perfect for the Festive Friday Challenge. Can I get a wooHOO?!!

blended seasons, eclipse technique, card ideas, stampin up, stampinup, stampin savvy, tammy beard

Project Details

The current challenge has two options: State Fair theme or use the color turquoise (I’ve used Stampin’ Up!’s Coastal Cabana). This project is the perfect opportunity to break in the new Watercolor Pencils Assortment #2 (part of the Color Your Season release). They coordinate perfectly with the existing Watercolor Pencils in the current Annual Catalog, giving you even more options to create depth and shading in your projects.

The flowers (below) are Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay, with a titch of Rich Razzleberry in the center. The leaves are Granny Apple and Garden Green, with hints of Balmy Blue for shading. Simply color like a kiddo, then add water with your AquaPainter– one color at a time. For instance, watercolor your flowers first, then let that dry before moving on to the leaves or centers. That’ll keep everything from running together and getting muddy. Embrace the organic, relax and have fun!

blended seasons card, card ideas, watercolor, stampin up, stampinup, stampin savvy, tammy beard

Watercolor Pencils: Just add water!

I adore the coordinating Stitched Seasons Framelits Dies (SAVE 10% when you bundle them with the stamps), but opted to use the Large Letter Framelits Dies because of the sentiment. After your coloring is complete and dry, it’s time to die cut them on your Big Shot machine. Lay your letter dies out, being careful to place them centered left-to-right and even at the top and bottom; cut. Adhere the main panel to the card base with Multipurpose Glue. I like to lay a large clear block on it for a few minutes to get good even adhesion (especially if the paper warped a bit).

ECLIPSE TECHNIQUE

Now it’s time for the Eclipse Technique: popping up the die-cut letters so just a hint of the card base shows through… like an eclipse of the sun and moon. The Foam Adhesive Strips make quick work of this (photo below). Place the letters back over the negative space- voila’!

blended seasons card, card ideas, eclipse technique, stampin up, stampinup, stampin savvy, tammy beard

Foam Adhesive Strips make quick work of Eclipse Technique

The next step is to stamp your sentiment I JUST MISS (masking off the YOU with a Post It Note or removable tape, inking it and removing tape before stamping) with Versamark Ink and heat embossing with White Stampin’ Embossing Powder on a small piece of Basic Black Cardstock. Center on card and adhere with glue.

blended seasons card, card ideas, stampin up, close up, stampinup, stampin savvy, tammy beard

For the last step, I picked up some color on my AquaPainter from the Coastal Cabana Classic Stampin’ Pad and flicked it all over, after applying Post It Notes over the image to mask them. Set it aside to dry and your’e done! Easy-peasy, lemon-squeazy!

Two-For One Stenciled Cards using Delightfully Detailed Paper

Two-For-One Stenciled Cards – Happy Monday! Who else likes two-for-one specials? In today’s project we’re creating two stenciled cards using the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper: one that gets stenciled, and one that contains the stencil. One design. Two cards! See what I mean…

stenciled cards, delightfully detailed, stampin up, stampinup, stampin savvy, tammy beard

Project Details- Delightfully Detailed Stenciled Cards

The Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper is so versatile: it makes great backgrounds, accents and… stencils! And it’s a tremendous value… I estimate you could possibly get 75 projects out of this pack- no kidding! Combined with the inexpensive, easy to use Sponge Dauber, these cards are fun and easy to make. Just ask my Paper Hugs Club class!

These cards feature products from the Delightfully Detailed Suite on page 38-39 of the Stampin’ Up! 2018-2019 Annual Catalog.

  • Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper
  • Detailed With Love Bundle (stamp set and Detailed Trio Punch)
  • 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon

In addition to the products on the Supply List, you’ll also need Post-It Notes, Washi or low-tack tape that’s easily removable. Find the full Supply List with shopping links at the end of the post.delightfully-detailed-stenciled-card-card-ideas-stampin-up-stampinup-stampin-savvy-stampinsavvy-tammy-beard

Using a separate border piece from the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper, you can also stencil the inside (and envelope) for a fun coordinating accent! As you can see from the photo below, you can stencil with it over and over… and over some more!delightfully-detailed-stenciled-cards-card-ideas-inside-stampin-up-stampinup-stampin-savvy-stampinsavvy-tammy-beard

Savvy Tips
  • Center the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper panel on the front of the card, then tape down the edges with Post-It Notes, washi or low-tack tape that’s easily removable. Cover the edges all around, so none of the card base is showing. This will protect you from boo-boo’s if you get too close to the edge with the Sponge Dauber. Trust me on this- you’ll thank me later 🙂
  • Ink your Sponge Dauber on the Classic Stampin’ Pad and apply over the openings. Experiment with pressure and ink. You can get many different looks depending on how much ink you apply, the pressure you use and whether you pounce or rub.
  •  The Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper is double-sided with Very Vanilla on one side and Whisper White on the other. For stenciling, I used the Very Vanilla side up so I could flip it over and use the Whisper White side on the second card. Whichever you prefer, think about this before starting.
  • It’s amazing how something simple like rounding your corners can change the look of a project… especially if you only round one or two. When using the Detailed Trio Punch, insert the paper using the guides and push down in the center (not the edge).

delightfully-detailed-stenciled-cards-ombre-card-ideas-inside-stampin-up-stampinup-stampin-savvy-stampinsavvy-tammy-beard

Here’s another fun ombre’ option (photo above) using Berry Burst, Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss inks on Whisper White Cardstock. The card base is Blackberry Bliss Cardstock and the coordinating accents are Berry Burst (retired Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon). The sentiment is from the HEALING HUGS stamp set.

Stampin Up Personalized DIY Party Banner- Happy Day!

Stampin’ Up! Personalized DIY Party Banner

Who else likes making things instead of buying them… especially when you can create exactly what you want? Today’s DIY Party Banner is all about transforming simple paper into something fun, festive and useful (that’s also inexpensive and easy to make with tips in today’s video tutorial).stampin-up-diy-party-banner-stampinup-stampin-savvy-tammy-beard

This multi-purpose banner (above) hangs in my office/studio while not is use for parties and celebrations. Doesn’t it just make you smile?  It works for birthdays, graduations, showers, or just about anything worth celebrating… and makes ME happy the rest of the time!

This particular banner was made with retired Designer Series Paper; the current 6″ x 6″ Brights Collection DSP and Cardstock Pack contain all the new colors.

Stampin up, DIY Party Banner, Large Letter Framelits, stampin savvy, stampinup, tammy beard

My daughter Jessica is an Usborne Books Consultant and wanted something for her events table, so she requisitioned the above banner… which turned out so stinkin’ cute (and was a HUGE hit!). Think of the possibilities -or watch the video-  I share several fun ideas. 🙂

Want to give the gift of books? SHOP with her HERE or check out her Facebook page HERE. Usborne Books are awesome and LOVED by my grand-kiddos and friends’ kids! I’m happy to shamelessly promote her 🙂

Check out the video for how-to instructions and several alternate ideas…

Project Details

There’s several tips in the video that will make putting this together easy-peasy, so I do recommend you watch it first!

  • Cut each banner piece from Designer Series Paper of choice (Brights Collection 6″ x 6″ DSP) 2″ x 5-1/2″
  • Score in 3/4″ from one end (on Stampin’ Trimmer or Simply Scored Tool; apply Tear & Tape Adhesive to reverse, along top edge (don’t remove paper backing yet)
  • Punch opposite end with Banner Triple Punch
  • Punch with (retired) 2-1/2″ Circle Punch (or die-cut with Layering Circles Framelits Dies) from coordinating Brights Collection Cardstock
  • Die-Cut letters from Thick Whisper White Cardstock, using Large Letter Framelits Dies; adhere to circles with Multi-Purpose Glue or SNAIL
  • Attach banner pieces to Whisper White Baker’s Twine (following suggestion in video)
  • Attach circles to banner pieces with Stampin’ Dimensionals (following suggestion in video)

If you don’t have the Large Letter Framelits Dies, follow my suggestion in the video for using the LETTERS FOR YOU Alpha Stamps (yep- that’s the name I couldn’t think of while filming! lol)

Festive Friday Challenge: Sweet Friendship Card in new Grapefruit Grove

Sweet Friendship Card

Today I’m playing along in the Festive Friday Challenge to celebrate Friendship Day coming up on August 5th. The challenge is to create a project with the theme of friendship OR use yellow in your design elements… or both. I chose the theme as inspiration for today’s sweet friendship card using new In-Color Grapefruit Grove.

friendship card, stampin up, stampinup, stampin savvy, stampinsavvy, tammy beard

I’m just loving returning color ‘Blackberry Bliss’ paired with ‘Grapefruit Grove’. It’s two colors I wouldn’t have thought to pair, but, that’s one of the reasons I love Designer Series Paper. Stampin’ Up! does the color coordination for you- as they did in the Nature’s Poem DSP. Now I can add it to my own color inspiration board- and so can you! Find me on Pinterest HERE.

Friendship card Color Inspiration

PROJECT DETAILS
  • The funnest element on this card was the scallop border. I wanted to jazz up the striped border a bit, without taking away from the butterfly focal point. Since I had the scallop die from the Seasonal Layers Framelits Dies out from Wednesday’s card (seen HERE), I decided to give it a try. By offsetting the stripes, it adds a little va-voom without being distracting. I love it! What do ya think??? That’s the 6″ x 6″ 2018-2020 In Colors Designer Series Paper.
  • The butterfly is die cut with the Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies from the Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper (as well as the banner piece under the sentiment).
  • The subtle stamping to the right of the striped border is the lovely Handwritten Background Stamp, inked with Versamark to create a watermark effect. So many sweet and fun “handwritten” words!
  • The sentiment (and die cut it’s on) are from the Stitched All Around Bundle ( a fave).
  • SHOP products for today’s friendship card from the Supply List at the end of this post

How To Get More From SU Thinlits – Adaptive Die Cut

How To Get More From SU Thinlits Dies

Happy Day! Today’s wonderful, brilliant and fabulous card project is so fun and easy- you’re going to want to make several! Plus, I’ve got a few Savvy Tips on how to get MORE from your SU Thinlits Dies! If you love value and versatility like I do, stick around. I think you’ll enjoy today’s post! If you missed Monday’s post on embossing with SU Framelits dies, see it HERE.

su thinlits dies, savvy tips, card ideas, stampin up, stampinup, stampin savvy, stampinsavvy, tammy beard

Project Details
  • Aren’t the scallop borders fun?! Find this die as part of the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies set (that coordinates with the Colorful Seasons Stamps).
  • Savvy Tip #1: Cut all three scallop borders at one time. Simply stack your three sheets of 6″ x 6″ 2018-2020 In Color Collection Designer Series Paper (in Blueberry Bushel, Call Me Clover & Lovely Lipstick) and place die on top (they’re all the same finished width). Run them through the Big Shot machine and they should cut in a single pass (mine do, but if in doubt, do a double pass- machines may vary slightly in their calibration).
  • Savvy Tip #2: The beauty of this design is you can use any three coordinating colors of Designer Series Paper or cardstock you have (although I’m partial to this DSP- the stripes and dots are so versatile and FUN!)

su thinlits dies, card ideas, stampin up, stampinup, stampin savvy, stampinsavvy, tammy beard

  • Savvy Tip #3: Match the ink on your sentiment to the DSP with coordinating Stampin’ Write Markers (more info on this technique HERE). Stamp onto Whisper White Cardstock, then die-cut with the Stitched Shapes Thinlits Dies in the second to largest size.
ADAPTIVE DIES
  • Savvy Tip #4: If the die is larger than you want, make it smaller! Here’s how: Set your Thinlits Die on the left side where you want it to cut (don’t worry about the right side yet) and run it through the Big Shot like normal. See photo below…

su thinlits dies how to 1, card ideas, stampin up, stampinup, stampin savvy, stampinsavvy, tammy beard

  • After it’s cut, now set the Thinlits Die where you want the right side to cut, while placing the stitches in the same place. It’s easy to do by feel from the back… they’ll drop in place as you move it slowly across the cardstock. Set your top Cutting Plate just over the right side of the die and start the roll through the Big Shot machine. Once it’s cut, roll it back out the same side you started. Easy-peasy! See photos below…

su thinlits dies how to 3, card ideas, stampin up, stampinup, stampin savvy, stampinsavvy, tammy beard

  • Attach your die-cuts to an A2 Card Base (4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″) made from Thick Whisper White Cardstock.
  • Embellish with a bow in coordinating 1/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon (Lovely Lipstick), attached with a Mini Glue Dot
  • Stamp sentiment of choice on inside
  • Decorate envelope flap with coordinating DSP
  • Now make someone’s day and give it away!

Embossing with SU Framelits Dies: Creating a little WOW!

Embossing with SU Framelits Dies

Happy Monday! Today’s project is one of my all time favorites- ever! It’s almost perfect in it’s simplicity! I haven’t done a simple one layer card in quite a while, so maybe that’s why. Whatever the reason, I hope you like it as much as I do! SU Framelits are the star of this project… don’t they look great embossed?

su framelits, stampin up, stampin savvy, stampinup, stampinsavvy, tammy beard

This little 3″ x 3″ gift card literally takes minutes to create, but the embossing provides just enough “WOW” to make it feel lux! Your friends and family will be clamoring to ask how you did it (mine did!). The answer is found in the new Big Shot Embossing Mats…. my second favorite new tool in the 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up! Catalog (the Stamparatus is the first, but it was close!).

Want to know the best part? For the cost of a couple drinks at Starbucks, you can double the use of your Thinlits and Framelits die with this tool. I get soooo excited about this- can you tell?

If you missed my video tutorial on how to emboss with dies, check it out HERE. It’s full of tips and step-by-step directions on embossing like a boss. One of my tips actually saved me from ruin the other day… watch it and I’ll bet you can guess which one! You’ll want to use it, too!

The Power of Three
  • It’s a 3″ x 3″ Card and fits Stampin’ Up’s 3″ x 3″ Envelopes
  • It has three design elements: the embossed circle, the sentiment and the butterfly
  • Create it in three easy steps
    1. Create a 3″ x 6″ card base from Whisper White Cardstock, scored and folded in half.
    2. Emboss with the second largest circle die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits set and the Night of Navy silicone Embossing Mat on the Big Shot machine (follow the sandwich provided with the Mats).
    3. Stamp the sentiment and butterfly in the center. That’s it! Gorgeous Grape was used for the sentiment and Highland Heather for the butterfly. For a fun touch, I added a little doodling to create antennae and spots with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.
ENJOY LIFE

One of my favorite new stamp sets is Enjoy Life. It’s got a fabulous mix of great sentiments, beautiful fonts and fun graphics. Even I’m surprised at how often I find myself reaching for it. Highly recommend it!enjoy life 148190G Stampin savvy

Flashback Friday: Olivia’s Magical Day Unicorn Birthday Card

Olivia’s Magical Day Unicorn Birthday Card

Happy Day! Welcome back to the other half of my family’s birthday celebration from this past weekend.  Today I’m here to show off my sweet and very spunky grand-daughter and the Magical Day Unicorn card & coloring gift I made for her eighth birthday. (If you missed my favorite daughter-in-love’s ENJOY LIFE card, see it HERE).

Olivia looooves unicorns, so I just had to use the Myths & Magic Suite from the Spring Occasions Catalog. While most of these products are retired now (hence the flashback), I know many of you have this stamp set (and/or bundle)… and possibly some Designer Series Paper left! It’s such an adorable Suite! Doesn’t Olivia’s sparkly Magical Day unicorn card just make you smile???

magical day unicorn, card ideas, stampin up, stampinup, stampin savvy, stampinsavvy, tammy beard

Here’s a peek at the inside (photo below), personalized just for her! This sentiment totally fits her personality! Can you guess her fave color???

I stamped (Memento Tuxedo Black Ink) and colored the unicorn (Stampin’ Blends markers) on thick Whisper White Cardstock, then die cut it with the coordinating framelits and glued it to the inside of the card. This way I didn’t have to worry about bleed-through common with alcohol markers.

magical day unicorn, inside, card ideas, stampin up, stampinup, stampin savvy, stampinsavvy, tammy beard

To coordinate with the card, I made this sweet coloring gift set (photo below). This adorable box (made with the Lots To Love Box Framelits Die) holds five Crayola Pip Squeaks Markers, peeking out with the help of the Layering Circles Framelits Dies and Window Sheet (recycled from packaging).

magical days coloring gift, stampinup, stampin up, stampin savvy, stampinsavvy, tammy beard

The little coloring book is just 2 Narrow Note cards, randomly stamped inside with the images from the Magical Day stamp set, stacked and tied with Whisper White Bakers Twine. Quick & easy, but oh, so wonderful for a little coloring fun! (see the video below for a look inside)

This is a great gift for a little girl- but it’d also be a fun party favor or transportable coloring kit for when you’re out & about with kiddos; a fun way to keep them occupied while waiting.

Here’s a quick video – don’t blink!

Finally, a pic of Olivia holding her card. Have to show her off! Isn’t she ADORABLE???? Sorry it’s blurry …possibly too much sugar 🙂
Hope you enjoyed Olivia’s Magical Day Unicorn card and coloring gift. Don’t you just LOVE what you can make from mere paper?! Handmade. From the Heart. Seeing the smile on her face makes my heart so happy! If you’re looking for more kid’s ideas, check out these other projects:

Crystal’s ENJOY LIFE Birthday Card & Video Reveal of New Goodies

Crystal’s ENJOY LIFE Birthday Card

This past weekend we celebrated two birthdays in our family: my favorite daughter-in-love, Crystal and our sweet and spunky grand-daughter, Olivia. Of course, they each got handmade cards! Today I’m sharing Crystal’s ENJOY LIFE birthday card (Olivia’s card & gift follow Friday with a little video clip!)

Speaking of videos, want to check out some of Stampin’ Up!’s newest goodies? My order arrived yesterday and I’m here to share!  So much FUN stuff… wooHOO! See several New Designer Series Papers (part of the BUY 3- GET 1 FREE special going on), a new Limited Edition Bundle coming soon and more, more, more!

enjoy life, card ideas, stampin up, stampinup, stampin savvy, stampinsavvy, tammy beard

Back to my daughter-in-love, Crystal has an energetic zest for life, positive attitude and love for others that makes me smile with pride, but it’s her determination that amazes me. She puts her ‘all’ into overcoming any obstacles put in her path. The word “can’t” is not in her vocabulary!  The girl raising her hands in the air could’ve been modeled after her… except for one tiny difference. Crystal has long curly hair! Easily fixed with a little touch up with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker. What fun to adapt… did you notice? 🙂 (Compare it to the actual stamp a bit lower in this post).

The main panel was watercolored for that cool background effect, then stamped with Staz-On Ink using my Stamparatus. It’s especially helpful when stamping on watercolor paper, as repeat stamping with exact placement is often needed to get good ink coverage on this textured paper. The (Bermuda Bay) stripe is from the Brights Collection 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. Want to see how to create that watercolored background, check out the video tutorial in this post HERE.

This inside sentiment (and ‘Happy Birthday’ from the front) are part of the ‘Picture Perfect Birthday’ stamp set. They just really seemed to go perfect with the sentiment on the front. It really is the little “everyday” things worth celebrating. As Kenny Chesney sings… “that’s the good stuff!”

ENJOY LIFEenjoy life 148190G

The ENJOY LIFE stamp set was part of fellow demonstrator Connie Fitzgerald’s reward for the milestone achievement of a million dollars in career sales.  She wanted something to represent her two adventurous and spunky kids, as well as inspirational quotes her family lives by. I find I reach for this set a LOT- it’s super versatile! If you have someone like Crystal in your life, (or others in need of a little lift), you’ll be using this set as much as I do!

Hope you enjoy a peek at lots of new product and the specials going on this month…

Three Suite ‘Life is Sweeter Card’ in yummy Mint Macaron

Three Suite ‘Life is Sweeter Card’ in Mint Macaron

Today’s ‘Life Is Sweeter Card’ was so fun to make -with elements from THREE different product Suites! It demonstrates why product coordination is, in my opinion, the TOP reason to love Stampin’ Up! Everything mixes and matches – meaning value and versatility for YOU! {Fortunately I can also sing their praises for stellar customer service, high quality products and an inspiring & supportive community!}. Life really is sweeter when you can get MORE from what you have!

Three Product Suites

While products within each Suite are designed to coordinate with each other, they ALSO coordinate with other products outside the Suite! That’s the beauty of Stampin’ Up!  For example, once you get Mint Macaron cardstock, it’ll coordinate with five different Designer Series Paper packs! Same applies to embellishments. Ink. Ribbon. Versatility = Value

Here are the three product Suites used for this ‘Life Is Sweeter Card’ and where you can find them in the 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up! Catalog.

  1. DELIGHTFULLY DETAILED  {p 38-39}:
    • Delightfully Detailed Specialty Designer Series Paper (frame)
    • Detailed With Love stamp set (sentiment)
    • Detailed Trio Punch  (rounded corners and inside details)
    • BUNDLE BONUS! Save 10% on the Stamps & Punch Bundle
  2. SHARE WHAT YOU LOVE {p 176-177}:
    • Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (first layer and flower accents)
  3. NATURE’S POEM {p 142-144}:
    •  Nature’s Twine (Mint Macaron stitched accent on frame)

Savvy Tips

Like to sew?  Separate the Nature’s Twine into two groups of strands, grab an embroidery needle and with one group, stitch up and down through each hole, securing the ends on the back with tape. Five minutes is all it takes to make this lovely stitched frame!

SAVVY TIP: Let your Designer Series Paper (DSP) do the {design} work for you!

  • Select two coordinating patterns (preferably one small in pattern (leaf sprigs) and one large (flowers).
  • Use the small pattern as the first background layer; the second for your accent.
  • Pick your card base color from one of the common colors found on the DSP (for this card, either Mint Macaron or Shaded Spruce would work)
  • Since the DSP is already color and pattern coordinated (thanks SU!), designing is easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy!

I like finding creative ways to do things – a fun twist, you could say- so for this card instead of adding the sentiment on top of the DSP, cut the DSP to make room for it to peek through from the underlying card base. See what I mean??? It doesn’t have quite the same impact on camera as it does in real life, but it IS a fun twist!

Notice the lovely accents at each corner? That’s the Detailed Trio Punch in action, with an accent stamp from Detailed With Love using the Mint Macaron Classic Stampin’ Pad. They work so well together, they look like they’re all one design!

The Detailed Trio Punch is  a 3-IN-1 PUNCH with three functions that are independent of each other- so you can can use them together or separately!

  1. A corner rounder to punch the outside edge of corners (YAY!)
  2. A lovely abstract flower punch for the inside corner
  3. A small oval punch for weaving ribbon (similar to the effect on the front frame, but not shown here)
