Hi, crafty friends! Looking for a versatile card making idea that works for everyone on your list? In this week’s tutorial, I’ll show you how to create two handmade cards from one design using the Stampin’ Up! Impressions Abloom Dies.
With just a few simple steps, you’ll see how easy it is to take a single layout and make it work for both masculine and feminine cards—perfect for birthdays, thank-yous, or any occasion. This two-for-one design is quick, creative, and a great way to get more from these favorite dies!
CARD TUTORIAL
Cut & Prep (Measurements width x length)
A2 CARD BASE: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ [Secret Sea Cardstock]
Score on long side side at 4-1/4″
INSIDE SENTIMENT PANEL: 4″ x 5-1/4″ [Basic White Cardstock]
HALF-CIRCLES: [Cloud CoverCardstock] SEE PHOTO 2 BELOW
With the smaller squoval die from Impressions Abloom, cut one on Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (or similar); on the Paper Trimmer, cut in half on the long side (don’t worry if they’re not equal sizes). Layer pieces on top of each other, matching at the rounded end, with cut side on track, cut at 1-1/2″… this converts the squoval to a circle with no additional dies- and creates equal size halves!
Optional: Use a 2-3/4 – 3″ Circle Die or Punch
Place both pieces in favorite embossing folder (with pattern vertically- SEE PHOTO 3 BELOW) and emboss on Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (or similar).
Masculine Card: Glass & Gardens Embossing Folder
Feminine Card: Pressed Flowers Embossing Folder
FOCUS IMAGE: With the Impressions Abloom Dies, cut (2) large leaf branches, and (3) individual leaves. For feminine version, add (1) large flower, (1) large flower center and (1) set of mini flowers.
SENTIMENT: Stamp front sentiment and trim to final size. Stamp optional sentiment on inside sentiment panel.
Masculine Card – Branching Out Stamps (coming Sept. 3rd!), Pecan Pie Cardstock, Secret Sea Classic Stampin’ Pad (trimmed on Paper Trimmer)
Feminine Card – Branching Out Stamps (coming Sept. 3rd!), Basic White Cardstock, Secret Sea Classic Stampin’ Pad, Textured Notes Dies
Photo 2 – See Instructions above under HALF-CIRCLES
Photo 3 – Emboss half circles with pattern placed vertically
Photo 4 – Use a T-Square Ruler to find center and align the half-circles with ease (white for illustration purposes). Find this card-maker’s T-Square Ruler in my Amazon Favorites (scroll to bottom)
ASSEMBLY
At the top of the card front, mark the center width (2-1/8″) with a pencil; using a T-square, draw a line vertically (from the mark). Adhere the embossed half-circles along the line, overlapping them in the center. SEE PHOTO 4 ABOVE
Adhere leaf branches, individual leaves (and flowers) to center.
Position front sentiment over focus image and adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Position the T-Square along either side of the card and use it to adhere the sentiment straight to the card.
Adhere inside sentiment panel.
Embellish front with 2025-27 In Colors Flat Pearls… done!
Masculine Card: Secret Sea
Feminine Card: Cloud Cover (small flower centers)

SAVVY TIPS
YOU CHOOSE! The Impressions Abloom Dies can be used by themselves- or for greater variety, with the coordinating stamps. The dies are easy to use, and the bold shapes make an instant impact without needing complicated techniques, great for beginners and crafters of all levels.
COLOR COMPANIONS: The 2025-2027 In Color Collection coordinates so well together!
Secret Sea and Cloud Cover make a great foundation for any card. Secret Sea is truly a chameleon… looking deep blue at times, and dark gray at others… it’s the perfect color buddy to the lighter, moody Cloud Cover.
The other three colors in the collection (Strawberry Slush, Timid Tiger and Darling Duckling) provide a variety of color for accents! Get all five colors in one Cardstock Pack.
SAVVY SUBSTITUTION! Use your favorite designer paper instead of embossing for the half-circles.
Choose a small-scale, fairly neutral pattern so the focal image remains center stage!
MASCULINE OR FEMININE? It’s all about the colors and accents! Use bold or neutral tones (like navy, gray, or earthy greens) for masculine cards, and sweeter shades (like pinks, purples, or pastels) for feminine styles. The layout stays the same—you just change the look with your choices.
ANY OCCASION & SEASON! Use this layout and design for virtually any occasion and season of the year with simple sentiment and/or color substitutions!
