WANT TO MAKE THIS? YOU CAN!
If you’re like me, you don’t always use everything you stamp, die-cut or punch. Maybe you change your mind and use something else. But, then what do you do with those leftovers? I’ve been keeping mine in stacked trays on my desk, but found it time-consuming to continually sift through to find what I wanted… not to mention I was quickly outgrowing the trays. I knew there had to be a better way.
Enter the Savvy Storage Solution that only uses three things (and you likely already have the third). This 6″ x 8″ Album plus Pocket Pages- intended for scrapbooking- is going to become your new best friend!

Cut white cardstock into 4″ x 6″ and 3″ x 4″ pieces
SAVVY TIP: Stack & cut 2-3 sheets at a time… I also found cutting them slightly under these measurements made it easier to slip them into the pockets.
On the long side of an 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet, cut at 6″, turn and cut at 4″, repeat. [The package contains (10) total 4″ x 6″ pockets]
From remaining piece, cut on short side at 4″, turn and cut on long side at 3″, repeat. [The package contains (24) total 3″ x 4″ pockets]
Cut one 6″ x 8″ piece for the largest single pocket.
You now have DOUBLE the pocket numbers noted above, with storage on BOTH SIDES!
Step 2
Place your pieces into pockets
I chose to place all the same type pieces together in a pocket (like the sentiments above and ephemera below), so it’d be easy to see like items at one time.
Consider how you’d most likely look for something and organize your pieces in a way that works best for you!
There’s two primary pocket sizes (4×6 + 3×4), so it’s easy to put larger pieces or panels in the larger pockets, and put smaller items like sentiments in the smaller pockets. I haven’t even used the large 6×8 pocket yet, but it’s ready when I need it.
Step 3
Insert pages into the album
The pages can be moved around to organize them in a way that works for you.
Bonus Tip: Create dividers if you’d like to have sections, like SENTIMENTS, BIRTHDAY, FLOWERS, etc. It’s so quick and easy to flip through, I haven’t done this yet, but as it grows, I can see this as helpful.
Note: The tops of the pockets are open, so be sure to keep the album upright! Don’t turn it upside down like I did… argh :)))
More Savvy Storage Tips
When you use up items in a pocket, just add new ones. There’s nothing to change… wooHOO for versatile! It’s also easy to know when to order more if it’s a favorite ephemera.
If a smaller pocket gets too full, shift everything to a larger pocket for easier viewing.
Want to note a product name or other info? Write in pencil on the white cardstock piece… it can be erased later if you change to storing something else.
With each page double-sided, one pack of storage pockets can hold a LOT. The album also holds MANY packs of storage pockets, giving you plenty of room to grow! When you’re ready to store more items, simply order another pack of Storage Pockets… they’re very inexpensive. (Amazingly, I haven’t even filled one set yet.)
The 4×6 and 6×8 pockets can also hold sheets of embellishments like sequins & gems.
This 6″ x 8″ album is the perfect size… not too big or too small. It’s easy to handle and store on any shelf (mine sits on my desk).
Note:The green album I’m using is retired. The current album is black and kraft.
wooHOO for a Savvy Storage Solution that is completely customizable, will grow with you, and is easy (and inexpensive) to maintain… it doesn’t get better than that!
Have fun organizing all your own paper crafting pieces… and anything else you can think of!
