Spotlight Technique Tutorial with Botanical Butterfly DSP
Hi! Today’s card project features the fun Spotlight Technique, named for the attention it draws to a specific spot on the card. Guess what? It’s simple to do in only three steps! If you like to color, but the idea of a whole card is too much, give this a try!
The Layering Circles Framelits Dies create the ‘spotlight’. With 16 graduating sizes, there’s sure to be one for the size you need. They also coordinate with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies (as do all the Layering shapes sets). Notice on the card how nice the stitching detail around the outer edge of the cardstock circle looks? Simple or stitched, it’s your call!
This BOTANICAL BUTTERFLY DSP has been one of my favorite papers to play with.. and FREE???! wooHOO! The black and white, hand-drawn art from the top right pattern is perfect for this technique with just a bit of selective coloring . The striped pattern below it creates the 1″ accent strip on the left of the card. A little coloring with the Dark Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Blends Marker creates a more subtle accent, exactly what I wanted.
I chose to finish coloring the wings that were left outside the circle, but that’s technically a creative option! lol A little Wink of Stella Glitter makes it shimmer!
The new AMAZING LIFE stamp & die bundle provide the great sentiments and stitched rectangle panel. This card is for one of my newer team members who deserves a high five. I couldn’t be happier for her and wanted her to know I’m her biggest cheerleader… congrats Debbie! Hope you like your card and gifts 🙂
Here’s a peek at the inside sentiment (below). I just couldn’t leave it naked, so more coloring with the Blends markers! I can’t stop playing with them!!!
