Fresh Fun with NOTES & TOTES Bundle: Garden-Trellis Card

Hi crafty friends! Looking for a fresh way to use the Notes & Totes Bundle by Stampin’ Up!®? This week’s tutorial features a charming handmade card design that’s perfect for summer—complete with a trellis and planter arrangement made from the dies!

Instead of following the typical beach theme this bundle is known for, this card brings cozy garden vibes with layered textures, dimensional details, and a sweet sentiment. Let’s dig into (pun intended!) the steps to make this unique garden-inspired design!

NOTES & TOTES GARDEN TRELLIS CARD TUTORIAL

CUT & PREP {width x length}

  • Strawberry Slush Cardstock: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″; score and fold on long side at 4-1/4″ for card base
  • Flower Garden Foils [Cloud Cover; Cane Pattern]: 4-1/4″ x 3″
    • With tote die from Notes & Totes Bundle, cut one on Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (or similar); fold along all creases to the back.
  • Thick Basic White Cardstock: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″
    • With fence die from Notes & Totes Bundle, cut four times on Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine to create 10 ‘fence’ boards. Set aside long, slender (and extra fence) pieces for another project.
      • Create the look of weathered wood by coloring all pieces with Stampin’ Blends Medium Combo Markers (lighter shade), and then Stampin’ Blends Gray Granite Combo Markers (darker shade). With a Sponge Dauber, add White Craft Ink in select areas on each board.
        • Savvy Tip: Line the pieces up next to each other and color them all at one time with the brush tip, as if they were one large image… it goes very fast!
      • Form the trellis be weaving five pieces vertically and five pieces horizontally under and over each other, starting with the top row and moving down; glue as you go.
        • Savvy Tip: Use Grid Paper to easily align the pieces and keep them straight
        • Note: After completing the card, I realized less of the trellis was seen than expected, so if you want to keep it simple, no weaving necessary. Simply lay out the pieces and glue at each intersection.

STAMP

  • With dotted ‘sand’ stamp from Notes & Totes Bundle, stamp with Strawberry Slush Classic Ink Pad along the bottom of the card front… this ‘grounds’ the image. Stamp optional greeting inside.
  • NO STAMP OPTION! It doesn’t get any quicker or easier than using premade images!
    • Find the flowers and leaves (and LOTS of other options) in the Fully Flowering Mix-and-Match Ephemera Pack
    • The sentiment is from the popular Saying Something Mix-and-Match Ephemera Pack
    • Don’t have these? Stamp & color your own favorite flowers and sentiment

ASSEMBLE

  • Apply Tear & Tape to the tabs on the back of the tote and adhere to the card front, centered left to right and about 1/4″ up from the bottom.
  • Glue the pre-formed trellis to the card front, with the bottom part inside the tote like it would be in a planter
  • Add the large flower image with Stampin’ Dimensionals, overlapping the front of the tote as if the strawberries are hanging over the edge of the planter.
    • Snip the ‘leaves’ piece into two parts and adhere flat to card, along with the individual flower, behind the large image… this creates depth and adds visual interest.
    • Adhere the sentiment onto the tote with Mini Glue Dots

EMBELLISH

  • Brush Wink of Stella Clear Shimmer on flowers… it’s hard to pick up on camera, but it adds soooo much!
  • Add a pop of color-matched WOW by adhering three Strawberry Slush Flat Pearls to each of the flower centers in main image. Adhere a Tiny Bee Trinket to the single flower… because they’re so darn cute!

Whether you’re crafting for a birthday, thank-you, or just because, the Notes & Totes Bundle makes it easy to create cards that will wow your family and friends… have fun! ❤️
