BEFORE
Follow this week’s Card Sketch Blueprint Tutorial #109 using the Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper and Cardstock Pack (Blushing Bride card base). The Needle and Thread Stamp & Die Bundle provide the sentiment and flower using Balmy Blue (flower and sentiment) and Old Olive Classic Stampin’ Pads (leaves). Pretty- but it looks like it needs something, doesn’t it?
CREATE A FRAME
Start with a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Balmy Blue Cardstock from the Needlepoint Nook Cardstock Pack. Use the second and fourth largest dies from the Rectangle Stitched Dies set. Center per the photo, die-cut on your Big Shot Machine.
- SAVVY TIP: AVOID THE SPEED BUMP! Notice how the paper and dies are angled on the platform (photo above)? Whenever you’re using dies with a straight line (like squares or rectangles), place them at an angle so a corner enters the machine first and you’ll avoid the ‘speed bump’ jolt. Think of it similar to driving a car over a speed bump. Take it an angle and the effect is gentle. Aim the car straight on and it’s a jolt… same principle!
It’s a 3-for-1 cut special! Save the two pieces on the left for another project (see photo above) and use the center frame on the right to create what you see below!
What a difference it makes! Instead of getting lost, the frame now draws your eye directly to the stamped flower and makes it a true focal point. And that stitching… scrummy!

Omgosh!! You are brilliant! I always hit the speed bump in my Big Shot and your tip of putting the dies in at an angle fixes it. Thank you for sharing : )
