SQUARE PILLOW BOXES – DIY Tutorial

Hi crafty friend! Let’s make some adorable Square Pillow Boxes with the coordinating products in the BEE MINE Collection by Stampin’ Up!, our Savvy Showcase Suite this month.

Follow along with the step-by-step tutorial below to see how easy these ready-to-assemble boxes are to decorate and give for sweet treats at Valentine’s Day (these are for my youngest grands)… or for unique, custom gift packaging for any occasion, simply by switching the pretty paper!

HOW TO MAKE THE SQUARE PILLOW BOXES
STEP 1 – PREP

Gently press along each pre-scored line to form box (do NOT adhere)… this will make assembling the box much easier later, after the designer paper is adhered!

STEP 2 – GLUE

Lay it back out flat and apply glue or adhesive to the bottom circle (photo above- note the double-sided adhesive for the sides is at the top, face up).

SAVVY TIP!
Outline, then fill each pre-scored area with glue so paper will adhere well after it’s folded into sections. Multipurpose Glue recommended… the wiggle room helps with the next step!

STEP 3 – ADD PRETTY PAPER

Adhere a 6-1/8″ x 6-1/8″ piece of designer paper to the circle, making sure it covers edge-to-edge (this is where the wiggle room of glue helps!).

Smile at how cute this pretty paper is while you give it a good rub to spread the glue.

STEP 4 – TRIM PAPER

Flip box over to the back and trim excess paper with Paper Snips or small, sharp scissors. Don’t worry about the awkward part in the middle of the box yet… you’ll trim that in the next step.

STEP 5 – TRIM/PT. 2

Fold box into position, then trim center section along edge… it’s easy now.

STEP 6 – ASSEMBLE BOX

You don’t need to unfold yours, but this shows (photo above) what the box looks like after the designer paper is trimmed (and before assembly)… BEE-utiful!!

ASSEMBLY! With your box folded into position, remove paper backing from one side (see it in the photo above), press the upper part of the box (decorated with designer paper) over the adhesive so the sides meet. Repeat on the opposite side… easy-peasy!

SAVVY TIP!
The double-sided adhesive is super-strong, so position sides into place before you press them together… it’s once-and-done!

STEP 7 – FILL WITH GIFT

Fill your box with a gift or sweet treats… there’s 5 Lindor Chocolates in there!

Finished Size is…

• Widest Width: 4″ x 4″
• Narrowest Width: 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″
• Height: 1-3/4″

STEP 8 – RIBBON WRAP

Close end and wrap 18″ Sweet Sorbet Bordered Ribbon around the box; tie bow at end with finger opening.

SAVVY TIP!
Make this box re-usable for your giftee by applying the dimensional adhesive for the bee (next step) to the RIBBON, not the box. It will come off cleanly when they untie the ribbon and then can be used again (along with the box) if they choose… wooHOO!

Psst! Use the margin around the edge of a sheet of Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the bee in the next step… it happens to be the perfect width to fit this narrow ribbon (shown in photo above) 😉

STEP 9 – ATTACH BEE

Stamp & punch a bee with the BEE MY VALENTINE Bundle, add an Adhesive-Backed Hearts & Flowers embellishment, adhere to box …DONE!

SAVVY TIP!
Use scraps from the BEE MINE Designer Paper to make the bees… not only will you save supplies by using small leftover pieces, but aren’t they ADORABLE?
