Broadway Bound Cards: 3 Ways, 3 Occasions
Broadway Bound Cards: 3 Ways, 3 Occasions
Hi, crafty friends! It’s been a great week sharing the various BROADWAY BOUND cards we made at last weekend’s Paper Hug’s Class. Today’s cards offer a creative twist on this week’s Card Sketch Tutorial #112. To show how versatile this suite is, I’m sharing three versions of the same card for three different occasions: birthday, graduation and retirement.
Some of you will recognize it as the handmade gift you received for shopping with me last month, as well as one of the three cards in the Rewards Kit! I really like it and hope you do, too!
If you missed the other cards (and tutorial) from earlier this week, check them out below…
- Monday’s Graduation Card
- Wednesday’s Birthday Card

- The BROADWAY BOUND Specialty Designer Series Paper and BROADWAY BIRTHDAY BUNDLE are on the LAST CHANCE LIST– available only as long as supplies last, so grab them today!
Details for Broadway Bound Cards
- Instead of using one large background panel (per the Card Sketch), let the coordinating patterns of of this DSP shine (pun intended) by using 5 patterns!
- Cut (one) 1″ x 4-1/8″ panel from five different patterns (see photo below)
- SAVVY TIP: I found it easiest to start by laying all five panels in place on the front of the Basic Black Cardstock card base. Start at one end, lift and adhere. Move to the opposite end, repeat. Check placement as you go. Adhere center, then in-between panels. Take your time and be deliberate. Trust me on this; my first card was a hot mess! Aren’t you glad I can make the mistakes and waste my paper? 🙂
- Step up the sentiment rectangle by using the RECTANGLE STITCHED Dies. Pick one close to the size in the sketch
- Notice there’s no circle? The nest of Metallic Thread takes it’s place, giving you a visual impression of a circle without hiding that pretty paper… another fun twist!
- After adhering the sentiment to the front of the rectangle, turn it over and apply SNAIL Adhesive on the back, at both ends in a wide swath. Start one end of a 36″ piece of Metallic Thread here and wind in a circle, adhering in place as you go around three-four times. Secure the end of the thread in the adhesive. Place several Stampin’ Dimensionals over the thread so it won’t come loose. Adhere to card front
- Finish card front by applying Clear Wink of Stella to the ‘WISH’ die-cut. You can never have too much shimmer and glimmer, right?!
RETIREMENT – CARD #1
Die-cut ‘Wish’ from Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock. Adhere with Multipurpose Glue. Stamp ‘Make A’ on Whisper White Cardstock, trim; adhere with dots of glue at the top left and right of the ‘W’. Follow instructions above.
Stamp (per photo below):
- ‘Hooray’ with a Lemon Lime Twist Classic Stampin’ Pad on a panel of Whisper White Cardstock
- Dots on top of above with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Stamp
- “Enjoy your Retirement” sentiment from ITTY BITTY GREETINGS below
GRADUATION – CARD # 2
Die-cut ‘WISH’ from Lovely Lipstick Cardstock. Stamp ‘Make A’ with same ink. Notice I got bold and angled the sentiment rectangle. Break the rules… be daring!
Die-cut inside panel from Whisper White Cardstock with the Rectangle Stitched Dies. Stamp ‘Hooray’ with a Lovely Lipstick Classic Stampin’ Pad. Stamp ‘Let’s Celebrate You’ over the top with a Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad (photo below) .
BIRTHDAY – CARD #3
For this card, simply reverse the DSP. See what I mean about this paper having dual personalities? It’s like getting two different (but coordinating) papers in one pack!
- Silver Metallic Thread is used for this card (versus gold on the other two cards)
Stamp ‘Hooray’ per the notes for card #1 above. Decorate with images stamped with a Lovely Lipsstick Classic Stampin’ Pad (photo below).
- “It’s Your Day” and the candle topper are from the June 2018 ‘Broadway Star’ Paper Pumpkin Kit. Using these stamps (and the Lovely Lipstick ink it came with) are just one reason to love Paper Pumpkin! Subscribe HERE
- Substitute other sentiments from the Broadway Birthday stamps
