Fall Card Ideas with Christmas Greenery Dies

FAVORITE FALL CARD IDEA: PRESENT

What better way to show off the versatility of the new Christmas Greenery Stamp & Die Bundle than a cozy card for autumn?! This is sooo much more than just a Christmas set! It’s part of the Traditions of Christmas Suite that will be showcased with project ideas throughout October.

TUTORIAL – FALL CARD 1

What I love! We’re only using one cardstock color (can be any fall color you have), one die and classic favorites: Gold Foil Sheets and Embossing Folders! A few fall ink pads and watercolor paper finish the project with an oh-so-simple technique that makes you look oh-so-artistic!

Card Pieces Before Assembly

CUT & PREP (Width x Length)

  • Cardstock for Card Base: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″
    • On Paper Trimmer, score on long side at 4-1/4″, burnish fold with Bone Folder.

  • Cardstock for Embossed Layer: 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″
    • Place on the diagonal inside the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder and run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (or similar)

  • Cardstock for Sentiment: 3-1/4″ x 1/2″
    • Rub cardstock with powder from Embossing Additions Tool Kit, stamp sentiment [Beautiful Butterflies] with Versamark Ink, sprinkle liberally with Gold Embossing Powder, tap off extra and melt with Heat Tool on High. Trim, as needed.

  • Gold Foil Sheet: 3-3/8″ x 4-5/8″
    • With large large leaf die from Christmas Greenery, cut one leaf from center on Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (or similar)

  • Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper: 5″ x 7″ (see photo below)
    • Liberally apply water to the entire sheet of watercolor paper.
    • Choose 3-4 fall ink colors. Apply ink in splotches with a large Water Painter… nothing fancy, you’re just trying to add a mix of colors to the entire sheet. It’s okay if the colors run into each other. Allow to dry or make dry with the Heat Tool.
      • Colors shown: Blackberry Bliss, Old Olive, Crushed Curry & Cajun Craze
    • With large leaf die from Christmas Greenery, cut (1) per card (the sheet is large enough to cut 3 leaves).

ASSEMBLY

  • Adhere gold foil rectangle, centered on card front (minus the leaf:)
  • Add the embossed cardstock layer, centered on foil.
  • Adhere the gold foil leaf slightly off-center and to the left. Add the watercolor paper leaf on top, slightly offset to the right and down a little… have the stems cross at the bottom.
  • Tie a bow with Linen Thread, adhere with a Mini Glue Dot where the stems cross.
  • Adhere sentiment with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals over the center of the bow

SAVVY SUBSTITUTION TIP: These are my Thanksgiving cards, but they’d also be fantastic cards for masculine fall birthdays, with a simple sentiment switch!
