Hi There! Hedgehog Card 

Happy Wednesday! Aren’t these little hedgehogs just so stinkin’ cute? They are THE stars of Stampin’ Up!’s Hedgehugs stamp set! In my imaginary world, I picture them the best of friends. Perfect for an adorable HI-HELLO-THINKING OF YOU card. Who wouldn’t want to open their mailbox and find this cute hedgehog card?!

COLOR INSPIRATION

In my mind, they just need to be playing on a log. Not sure why- but, we’re going with it! So Early Espresso was my first color choice. Soft Sky was my second- mostly because I had a scrap from the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper sitting on my desk that I thought I could use. In the design, I thought it could allude to sky, as well. After that, red seemed the obvious choice to brighten up the other two. Together, they work really well, with a bit of vintage vibe.

The coloring on the hedgehogs was done with Stampin’ Blends markers and a brush of Wink of Stella glitter. Of course, hedgehogs should shimmer, too! Color in a little grass to “ground” them, and you’re done.

TEXTURE

I do LOVE Textured Impressions Embossing Folders (TIEF) to add that special oomph to a card and the Pinewood Planks 3-D TIEF was just what I wanted for that wood effect. Another option could be the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. Either would work, depending on what you have on hand. I highly recommend both.

ACCESSORIZE YOUR CARD

Don’t forget to decorate the inside of your card, too- as well, as the envelope. It’s like accessorizing an outfit. It dresses thing up and ties everything together.

Ever made a mistake just when you were about to finish? I messed up the sentiment below AFTER I had everything else colored. Argh! Not wanting to throw it away, I just stamped it on a scrap piece and covered over it. Problem solved and my girlfriend will never know. So take heart if it happens to you and do a little creative up 🙂
