Hi crafty friends! If you’re giving gift cards this holiday season, why not make them a little more special? This easy pop-up gift card holder turns a simple card into a handmade holiday surprise!

With just a few paper crafting supplies and this week’s free tutorial, you can create a DIY holiday gift card holder that’s festive, fun, and full of personalized charm. It’s a quick project you’ll love making — and your friends and family will love receiving.

DIY POP-UP GIFT CARD TUTORIAL

What I love! This easy pop-up holder transforms an impersonal gift card into an extra-special gift. Is your time short, but list long? No worries… it’s easy to make multiples in minutes!

PHOTO 2: Finished Gift Card Holder Ready to Give!

CUT & PREP (Width x Length)

  • CARDSTOCK: Main Piece 4-1/4″ x 9-3/4″
    • On Paper Trimmer, cut on long side at 5-1/2″
      • Large Piece: Score on long side at 4-1/4″ and 1-1/2″
      • Small Piece: Score on long side at 1-1/2″
      • Burnish folds with Bone Folder (see Photo 2)

  • CARDSTOCK: Band 1-3/4″ x 6″ Band
  • WHITE CARDSTOCK: Sentiment Panels (2) 4″ x 2-1/2″
    • Stamp sentiment and images from Delicate Pines Bundle, as desired

  • DESIGNER (PATTERNED) PAPER: Decorative Layers 4″ x 7″
    • On Paper Trimmer, cut the following pieces on the long side…
      • For Top: (2) 4″ x 1″ …cut at 1″, repeat
      • For Pop-Up: (2) 4″ x 1-1/4″ …cut at 1-1/4″, repeat
      • For Front: (1) 4″ x 2-1/2″ …remaining piece

  • DESIGNER (PATTERNED) PAPER: Decorative Band 1-1/2″ x 6″
PHOTO 3: Creating the Pop-Pop Element

ASSEMBLY

  • SEE PHOTO 3: Temporarily place two main pieces together, with the 1-1/2″ folds upright and ‘kissing’ each other. Apply strong adhesive [Tear & Tape] to sides and bottom of one side to form the gift card pocket; press together.
  • Adhere sentiment panels to inside, on both sides of pop-up
  • Adhere designer paper centered to both sides of pop up and top, and front
  • Adhere designer paper to cardstock band, centered. Wrap around holder (slightly loose so it’s easy to remove) and secure at front.
