Product Showcase: Garden Impressions DSP and Suite

Product Showcase: Garden Impressions DSP

Hi friends! What better time to showcase Stampin’ Up!’s new Garden Impressions Suite of products than the first week of summer? Today’s project is a quick and simple card where the Garden Impressions DSP (Designer Series Paper) is the star of the show. Hand-painted floral images in bright, vibrant colors with impressionistic-style make up this beautiful paper. If you like Monet’s paintings, you’re going to love it!

The Garden Impressions DSP pack features 24 different designs. You get four each of the 12 double-sided sheets. Guess how many coordinating colors you have to choose from? TEN! That’s a LOT of creative options 🙂

It’s hard to tell on the card base here, but Soft Sea Foam really is lovely. I wish it wasn’t so shy on camera! The texture is from the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, which I used sideways. You can do that with the 6″ x 6″ folders! I envisioned sparkles all around the butterfly (like fireflies or fairy dust)- my card, my imagination!

I had someone special in mind for this card, so I chose a sentiment from the Ribbon of Courage set, rather than the fun 2-step photopolymer set called Abstract Impressions that coordinates with this suite, but more on it later. It’s currently bundled with the Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies to save you 10%!

Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies

The butterfly was cut from the Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies… one of my favorites from the new catalog (you’ll be seeing the other dies later this week). The butterfly was also cut from the Garden Impressions DSP (second row, far right in top photo), providing a variegated look that provides textural interest over plain cardstock. Isn’t it lovely???

I added a couple personal touches to the butterfly with a scrap of untwisted baker’s twine for antennae and colored Rhinestone Jewels for bling (keep reading for the how-to). It was attached only in the center with a few Glue Dots so the wings flap freely. For fun, you’ll find another pattern on the underside should you peek!

Create custom-coordinated embellishments with Stampin’ Blends Markers

One of my favorite ways to use Stampin’ Blends Markers is to customize embellishments. You know I love versatility- especially when I can find more ways to use what I have. This card was the perfect time to pull this technique out, as there isn’t any Night of Navy embellishments in the catalog. So I looked through my basic jewels and decided to go with the Clear Rhinestones, but they were a little too distracting for me. A quick swish with the brush tip of the Dark Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends Marker and voila’- custom embellishments!

{This technique also works for the Pearls; a good reason to keep both Rhinestone & Pearl Jewels on hand with your Stampin’ Blends markers!}
