More Ways To Use Paper Scraps
Hi there! Paper scraps. We all have them (some more than others- lol). The million dollar question is “what do I do with them?” Toss them (gasp)? Store them (sigh)? Or use them (YES)! This week’s Card Sketch offers you another way to put them to use. Isn’t creating something beautiful for someone else the very best option? It’s a win for everyone!
Today’s card example features the beautiful TROPICAL ESCAPE Suite. Can you hear the waves crashing on the shore and smell the ocean breeze? I think I might even hear a little reggae music in the background! This set reminds me of one of my favorite tv shows: Death In Paradise. It’s from over the Pond and is sooo good (clean and funny!)… check it out! But I digress…
Let’s hear a wooHOO for the stamps and dies carrying over into the new catalog. But what isn’t living on is the discounted BUNDLE (and trust me when I say you want the matching dies, even though I didn’t use them on today’s card!) If you like this set as much as I do, you’ll want to snag it now and save 10%.
To step things up a little, emboss a 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ panel of cardstock to match your card base (in this case, Blushing Bride- see photo below) with the LAYERED LEAVES Embossing Folder and adhere to card front before following the steps in the tutorial. {A strong adhesive like TEAR & TAPE works best)
Let’s wow-up the sentiment, too! Grab your Stamparatus stamp-positioning tool and ink up your sentiment with a BLUSHING BRIDE Classic Stampin’ Pad; stamp on Whisper White Cardstock. Now move your paper just a titch to the side (like 1/16″); re-ink with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and re-stamp. TA-DAAA… easy-peasy shadow stamping!
But let’s not stop there. Grab the “cloud” die from the NEEDLEPOINT ELEMENTS Die Set (part of the NEEDLE & THREAD Stamp & Die BUNDLE now on the LAST CHANCE LIST) and die-cut around the sentiment. It actually doesn’t cut, it creates that adorable stitching. Now punch it out with the PRETTY LABEL Punch. Next, take a scrap of the Shaded Spruce Cardstock (from the Cardstock Pack) and punch one piece. Cut in half lengthwise and adhere behind sentiment, with a little peeking out the top and bottom.
Last, but by no means least, glue a scrap of the DSP to the envelope flap. All done, it only takes a few extra minutes to step up this project, but what a difference it makes!
See how easy it is to take a simple design and add lots of character in just a few steps. And use up some paper scraps while you’re at it!
